The collapse and devastation of Sudan is designed by the UAE, backed by all the usual suspects.

Sudan’s main incentive in doing so was the removal of it from the U.S. ‘state sponsors of terrorism’ list and it having its debts cleared, which would then give it access to $1bn in annual funding from the World Bank as well as from other international financial institutions. /6

Sudan itself is a signatory to the Abraham Accords, though it never fully normalized with Israel as a result of the civil war breaking out and then the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The deal was never finalized or ratified. /5

Reminder that the Abraham “Peace” Accords were actually not simply normalization treaties but arms agreements. While those deals happened under Trump, the Biden admin has approved massive arms sales to both the UAE & KSA ($5Bn in 2022 for missile defense). /4

The UAE is the main backer of the RSF - including through arms. Two-thirds of the UAE’s arsenal is bought from the U.S. - with South Korea & Israel also being large suppliers, especially of air defense (missiles). The UAE is the third top supplier in the region (behind Israel and Turkey). /3

Estimates put numbers slaughtered at upwards of hundreds, into the thousands, over the course of a few days. Satellite images, found by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab, suggest piles of human bodies in ElFashir and red discoloration of patches of soil, consistent with blood. Chilling images /2

Horrific situation in Sudan’s El Fashir, which has fallen to the RSF. Massacre after massacre of civilians; civilian men being asked if they’re soldiers and being summarily executed in the streets. 🧵

It’s precisely this aura of authority that has allowed it to remain complicit in crime after crime, with impunity. It should be shameful to be a part of and uphold this institution that intentionally has manufactured justifications and propaganda for the extermination of the Palestinian nation./3

The Times has long survived - and thrived - on its claim to be the standard, the institution around which the entire news industry orbits. Its prestige is treated as untouchable, even by many of its critics./2

The genocide is not over. We are dealing with overseers and executioners of an extermination campaign of children.

According to @sanasaeed.bsky.social, mainstream outlets use stories that highlight the toll of human suffering in Gaza to defend themselves when accused of bias. “These types of ‘good stories’ still diminish the role of the United States and Israel in the genocide itself.”

You’re here and not necessarily hearing / reading the experiences of Palestinians in Gaza in real time. Here are just some of the tweets from Palestinians in Gaza as Israel turns this into one of the bloodiest nights of the genocide.

Trump’s plan for “emptying” Gaza had headlines and reports using the word “ethnic cleansing” and referencing it as a violation of international law. 145 Democrats called it “morally indefensible”. None of that for Israel’s actual crimes.

Israel wants to extend the war, not the ceasefire. It’s campaign of starvation - a war crime - is presented just as a tactic to extend the first phase of the ceasefire. Israel wants to extend the first phase because the second phase would require it to withdraw its troops from Gaza & end the war.

This act is unequivocally anti-Muslim, it is an intentional desecration of the holy month; it is another iteration of the ethnosupremacy that has been a defining feature of the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

At a time when Muslims are already fasting out of spiritual and communal devotion, Israel wants to starve them - there’s almost a humor in it for them.

There is something pathologically cruel—distinctly Israeli, in its calculated brutality—about starving a population that is 99% Muslim on the second day of Ramadan.

This is actually insane? They weren’t even US citizens? Their deaths—at the hands of Israel—are being used as a war cry for continuing the extermination of Palestinians. It’s become abundantly clear that the culture and embrace of genocide in this country won’t be dismantled.

If we want to talk about a theater of macabre, that performs humiliation and desecration of the dead, the Israelis are its greatest playwrights.

We’ve had 16 months straight of IDF soldiers filming themselves and taking photos of themselves wearing Palestinian women’s lingerie, playing and desecrating the bedrooms of children they’ve displaced, stepping on skulls of decomposed Palestinians.. it’s never ending.

Incredible thing to write and publish while a video, taken by an IDF soldier, of dogs eating the carcass of a murdered Palestinian circulates on social media—not an outlier of Israeli treatment of the Palestinians they’ve killed, but the norm.

Because thats the thing: the only way to create empathy for Israelis and manufacture them as the primary victims is, as we’ve seen, through presenting Palestinians as worthy of receiving every type of violence.

Constantly witnessing the humanization of every Israeli - by our media, elected officials, everyone - through the genocidal dehumanization of every single Palestinian is really goddamn exhausting.

I also want to note that the New York Times is well aware of how ethically compromised (to put it politely) Screams without Words was because they shelved The Daily episode about it. They just refuse to takedown and issue a correction & apology for the original.
0132 13
Sana Saeed @sanasaeed.bsky.social · 20/02/2025
That is intentional. Just as it was intentional that the New York Times published a poorly investigated piece based on fabricated testimonies that was then kept up despite being completely debunked./3

It cannot be emphasized enough how hard you have to work when writing a report, when editing that report, to not refer to something that is clearly a type of violence (like sexual violence) as what it is. “Sexual violence” is not a legal term, so there is no legal caution to be taken here. /2

The NYT is single-handedly responsible for one of the foundational lies that was used to justify the genocide of Palestinians: ‘Screams without words’. Between that & this, it really should end any discussion about the breadth of *intentional complicity* in genocide manufacturing by the NYT.

In September 2024, Israel sent a truck of 88 bodies to Gaza without any identification or explanation for how and where they were killed. In 2019, the Israeli High Court ruled that Palestinian bodies could be held by Israel as a bargaining chip.

In July, Haaretz reported that there are more than 1500 Palestinian bodies held at the Sde Teiman torture camp, alleged to be primarily of Hamas fighters from Oct 7th. There are also bodies that Israel has taken from inside Gaza of Palestinians it had killed or stolen from cemeteries& hospitals.

According to the National Campaign to Recover the Bodies of Martyrs, the Israelis currently hold the bodies of at least 665 Palestinians in Israeli cemeteries and morgues, some since the 60s & 70s. 59 bodies are of children and 259 bodies have been held since Oct 7. /1

A ceasefire doesn’t end a genocide. From the Herero & Nama genocide to the Holocaust to the man-made famines that forged the global south, genocidal projects often achieve the most harm and extermination not through bullets and bombs but the purposeful spread of disease and starvation.

The CNN report also mentions the incident where aid trucks were looted recently, but makes no mentions of the fact that the gangs operate under the support of the IDF — an accusation made by aid groups.

Sana Saeed @sanasaeed.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
It’s overall a good report, leading with the violence and starvation wrought against the Palestinians. It ends with an Israeli COGAT quote that is not true re: aid trucks. Need reporters to contextualize with Israeli politicians repeatedly stating their intention to starve Palestinians.

According to Palestinian health workers & journalists, the Israelis seem to be using new weapons that *vaporize* any human body within a few hundred meters in North Gaza. Gaza has long been used as a laboratory - the Israelis test weapons & then there is a spike in global demand for those weapons.

Imagine trashing your entire ‘civilizational’ project just to oversee and deny a genocide of a stateless, displaced people.. 50% of whom are children. A house of cards.

Sana Saeed @sanasaeed.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
Genocide and denialism go hand in hand - that’s nothing new. But the denialism of this genocide and the genocide itself have brought down institutions and law - the UN, international law, ‘rules based order’, even “rights and freedoms” in “western liberal democracies”.

Sana Saeed @sanasaeed.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
The breadth of denialism of the genocide of Palestinians is still astounding to me bc of just how much dehumanization it requires. Never in history have we seen an extermination of a nation play out in front our eyes so explicitly and never has there been this breadth and effort put into denial.

If the bombs won’t kill them, if the starvation won’t kill them, if the injuries won’t kill them, if the bullets won’t kill them, if the diseases won’t kill them, if the lack of medical care won’t kill them.. the Israelis & Americans will find every other way to kill them.
