The text:

Suguru's looking at him, less intense and more quizzical. Shit, he said something didn't he? Satoru really needs to rein his fucking hormones in, maybe have his suppressant levels checked. He hasn't been this distracted since he was a teenager.

"You say something? I was too busy enjoying the coffee I've waited fifty minutes for."

Suguru chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief, "Is it really that good?"

"Amazing. I'm gonna come in every day just for this," Satoru says, failing to mask his rising excitement.

Ugh, I sound like the kid at the counter.

In his desperation to avoid that comparison he finds himself holding out his cup.

"You wanna try it?" he says, the uncertainty in his voice giving away his confusion at his own actions.

Suguru's eyebrows leap up his forehead before he's laughing again, poorly hiding it behind one of his hands. The other flaps dismissively, as if it could shoo away the idea itself.

"No, no, I get enough of this kind of thing outside of work so I'm already very familiar with it."

"Have you considered selling it? I think you've got a real winner here. People would queue up for a taste."

Satoru takes another sip to highlight his point. He can't tell if Suguru looks pleased or like he's about to pass out, the continued choking from the last wave of laughter can't be helping.

"You alright?" he asks, bemused by the barista's behaviour.

"Yes, yes I am. To answer your question, I haven't really considered selling it, I don't think we're taking our business in quite that direction. I think I prefer to keep it for select customers. I make it myself you know."

Before Satoru can further inquire Nanami appears at Suguru's side, his impression of a cumulonimbus as impressive as ever.

"Can we talk for a moment?" he asks, tone unmissably dry.

Suguru nods, smoothing his hands over his apron before looking back to Satoru.

"I really should be getting back to work. It was nice talking to you..." Suguru trails off, tone searching.

"Satoru, as in to become enlightened," he says, winking over his glasses.

Suguru smiles, eyes still locked onto him as he turns to walk away.

"See you tomorrow, Satoru."

A peculiar hot-cold sensation shivers down his spine at the way Suguru says his name; a shot of espresso poured over ice-cream.

Satoru hopes he doesn’t melt too quickly.

Just received @crimsonsun.bsky.social's Shinra Photobook. There are a lot of gorgeous pictures but I think my favourite is the one on the final page of the Shinra Tower about to be destroyed. The blur really creates the right mood for it 🧡
