At a certain point under capital a company has to sacrifice everything that got it started at the altar of making more money, often ending in it's total collapse.

Christopher Nolan's fear of engaging with the fantasy elements of the Oddysey in the name of chasing realism (and the trend of chasing "realism" more broadly) made the story much less stylish than it could have been. I still enjoyed it but was underwhelmed.

The black sails finale does such a good job of rounding off the show, such a well written programme. It's also interesting seeing the real life pirates mixed with the fictional. if you're in the UK it's free on itvx and I highly recommend it.
