Country especially, I feel like a lot of music writers who don't specialize in it can be really condescending about it and not actually try to meet it where it's at. Like whenever a country song becomes a huge crossover hit and you can tell the folks writing about it are out of their depth.

Not untrue, as someone with ADHD I'll fully admit I don't listen to as much as I should 😅 I just get annoyed when ppl who purport to know better act all smug and elitist about those genres without bothering to know even basic things about how they're made and why people listen to them.

And I don't mean older legends like Biggie and Tupac or Dolly and Johnny Cash, or any of the hipster-approved stuff that's cool to like, I mean the stuff that's popular right now. It's important to be aware of what people outside your social circle are listening to and why.

I'll be real, if you claim to be a music nerd but don't listen to enough rap or country - yes, even the crappy formulaic radio stuff - that's a pretty big blindspot that you should work on correcting.

I'm delighted to vote against Republican fascists every chance I get, but is it too much to ask that my only alternative stop constantly spitting on me and then demanding unquestioning loyalty? Like, how am I *supposed* to feel about that?

Can I just say it's weird how, per the Democratic Party, leftists are too few and fringe to be worth trying to appeal to and can't win elections, but also it's solely our fault whenever a Dem loses an election bc clearly our numbers and influence swayed it?

Not the most sophisticated answer but I always really loved the Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer. They're a fun blend of sci-fi and modern fantasy, funny and clever but with fantastic character development, and some nice nods to Irish culture and folklore. And no major romance iirc.

I think that Audrey Hobert lady is very charming and makes some very fun and catchy music, and I would not at all mind her having more success.

That makes total sense. I feel like First Class Magneto was kiiiinda going in that direction but didn't really commit to it. I'd absolutely be down for him being a Punisher that mows down bigots and fascists (though sadly the MCU would absolutely water that down, they hate moral ambiguity).

I think there are interesting things you can do with him in the modern era, but they're mostly things I don't remotely expect the MCU to ever have the guts to do. And yeah, he is a bit overexposed, let some other characters have a chance.

Did not know that, not surprising but still kind of a bummer, I liked some of their songs back in the day. Oh well, at least Underoath, Emery, and August Burns Red seem like decent guys.

I've thought about this for a while and the one I came up with was The Bat. Simple, gender neutral, and most of the criminals in Gotham already call her that anyway.

From what I've heard of it it seems like a *rough* listen. The title track along very much sounds like someone who's clearly Not Doing Well mentally, yet is distressingly in denial about it. Idk what help she needs but I really hope she gets it cuz this is worrying.
