I think it’s fair at this point to say that the Timbers probably are as bad as this scoreline suggests. It is not a squad that needs a couple cosmetic procedures, it is a squad in need of open-heart surgery this offseason. #RCTID

Maybe this is something, maybe it's nothing, maybe it's me being way too glass-half-full, but: the Timbers were in a match in melting heat on the road with a heavily rotated team for nearly 90 minutes, and then came inches away from snagging a point at the death. I don't hate that. #RCTID

With David Da Costa - the defining player of the post-Neville era thus far - out for most of the game, Kristoffer Velde stepped up in a massive way. Two beautiful free kicks and an overall 90 minutes of being a straight up menace for STL. Not great, but a point earned nonetheless. #RCTID

The Kelsy sale is a really good bit of business in micro and macro for the Timbers. It’s an excellent ROI on a player they did a great job developing, exactly how the U22 is supposed to work. It also helps establish Portland’s place in the global market, important with the calendar flip #RCTID
