Happy 5th anniversary to #kidlitartpostcard day! In line with this month's theme, I present: little me riding a tricycle with all the swagger and fashion of an old man. (My mom loved styling me in sunglasses as a kid. Anyone else?) #illustration #kidlit

Happy 5th Anniversary to #kidlitartpostcard Day!! Here is a drawing I previously made of myself as a child. I grew up in the 80s/90s and the long pigtails were an every day thing until age 5! This captures a lot of things I loved as a child. Rollie pollies, piano, The Wizard of Oz, etc #kidlitart

Happy #kidlitartpostcard day! This is me (and my brother) as kids. The plants behind us are Oregon grape. We liked to use them for face paint! If I remember right, our mom wasn’t pleased. Portfolio site: kirstenmcgonigal.com I’m rep’d by: @beccalangton.bsky.social of @da-childrens.bsky.social

Gouache children’s book illustration, painted by Kirsten McGonigal, showing a little boy and girl who are brother and sister sitting on the ground with green bushes behind them. The bushes are Oregon grape, and have purple berries on them. The boy and girl both have berry juice smudged on their faces like face paint, and the girl is reaching out to put more on her brother’s face. They also both have stains from the berries on their hands, arms, legs, and clothing. The boy is smiling, and the girl has a look of concentration on her face as she paints her brother’s face.

It's #kidlitartpostcard day again! Were you a fan of rainy days growing up? (I had a love-hate relationship.) I'm Samantha Lu, a Canadian illustrator and seeking projects looking for whimsy, organic art style, and drawings of little bodies with big personalities. See my portfolio at samillu.ca

Digital illustration of young twin girls walking home in rain. One twin is rambunctious and splashed in puddles while the other carries an umbrella with poise.

My first time participating in #kidlitartpostcard day! We had a lovely warm Monday here in Toronto which inspired this sunny piece. (Fingers crossed for good weather going forward.) #kidlit #illustrator #kidlitartist

Digital illustration of young Black girl lying on field of grass and dandelion flowers. Her body is cropped to focus on face and upper torso. Her face displays a relaxed emotion as she gazes up at the clouds that cast shadows in various shapes. Her hair is done in two Afro puffs and she wears an orange-yellow graphic T-shirt that reads "illustrator and samillu.ca," referring to occupation and website of the artist.

Part 1/? of "Hindsight is 20/20," a series of art pieces and studies based on my childhood photos. Fun fact: the heart "pendant" is a refashioned container for cinnamon hearts. (What an eco-friendly queen.) #childrenbookillustration #digitalart #procreate #illustration #editorialillustration

Illustrated semi-realistic depiction of young Chinese girl, around age 6-8. The girl is wearing off-white pajama pants with floral print, a leather coat, a red bowler hat, and a necklace with a large semi-transparent heart pendant. She poses with her hands poised around face, knees slightly bent inward, and pursed lips at she glances at the camera, face turned in 3/4 view.

New piece for a character idea that popped into my head + some of the process work behind it. I've been meaning to experiment with more fantasy designs so this was a lot of fun 💕 #digitalillustation #characterdesign #conceptart #dndoc #cervitaur

Digital illustration of a woman walking on a forest path. She's paused to observe a butterfly on her finger. She has the torso of a human with the body of a deer. Dressed in earthy green tones. Overhanging leaves create a dappled sunlight effect throughout the piece.

Rough sketches exploring character design for a fantasy being that mixes human and deer traits. Left figure depicts creature with human torso and deer body (similar to centaur). Right figure depicts regular woman with deer legs, similar to a faun or satyr.

Rough line sketches exploring different poses for a human-deer fusion character. Mostly black and white with one coloured thumbnail exploring composition.
