Better pics of the jig itself. Just clamped a speed square as a stop block lol

Working on a growth chart for my wife’s bday, made out of white oak. I made a jig from random scraps to get straight consistent lines with my router. Making jigs is one of the most satisfying parts of woodworking

Great find at the lumber yard today 😍 figured sapele for a great price. I don’t have a project in mind, what should I make with it? I might make a serving board for my sister for Christmas but would still have 2/3 of the board left

honestly a relief that even tailwind hasn't totally figured out dealing with 419s in inertia 😂

So tonight I discovered I can directly access route model bindings inside a FormRequest, but it feels sort of icky since the FormRequest doesn't necessarily *know* it's being called from a route that has the model bound. what do you do in this situation? 🤔
class UpdateBucketRequest extends FormRequest
{
    /**
     * Determine if the user is authorized to make this request.
     */
    public function authorize(): bool
    {
        return Auth::user()->can('view', $this->bucket);
    }
}

Flew to Greece last night 🇬🇷 first flight since I got these earbuds which let you plug the case into a headphone jack for an instant wireless connection. So I can watch the built in screen with noise cancelling earbuds. Such a great idea

I haven't dabbled too much with MCP yet, but mcpilot.ai from bradenkeith@x made it super easy to set up and play with. Curious how I can use this in my day to day life, programming and otherwise. Also ⭐632 on Github noice

Custom functions are now supported! 🎉 existing hammerspoon users will love this. you can now integrate any custom logic you want with Hammerflow, using the function: prefix in your toml config

Our oven was spewing gas every time we used it so we had to replace it. We decided to take the plunge and go with induction. It’s good! Definitely an adjustment at first, still figuring out scrambled eggs haha

To add a function hello_sam to PHP, I created a hello_sam extension in the ext folder. I used AI to help me out with writing the actual extension and which commands to run to build it, just to see it work. And it does!

Can anyone offer some Laravel Livewire advice? I've only used Inertia but looking into Livewire because of how cool Flux is. Is this the best way to send data down to the frontend for client-side iteration? It feels a bit clunky to send a stringified JSON object but maybe this is typical?
An example code snippet using Laravel's `Js::from` helper to stringify data in Livewire and send it down to the client for Alpine to iterate through.

Sanding is just part of woodworking and nobody likes it. but every now and then a project comes along that reminds you why you hate sanding 😅 *especially* hand sanding. My fingers hurt

I tried these white drywall screws I've had laying around for a while for the side of the bracket that is not in a stud. A quick sharpie fix had them blending in with the bracket and the other screws 🚀
A shelf mounted using a bracket with one white screw that is barely visible above the edge of the shelfThe mounting bracket without the shelf, showing the white screw now colored black with a sharpie to match the bracketThe shelf is placed back on the bracket, and the white screw now appears black where it just peeks over the shelf thanks to the sharpie

Happy with the results! I hope the HDR photo works on bluesky because it's wayyyy more color accurate for how the shelves look IRL. I'm guessing it won't though unfortunately. They pop a lot more in real life than the SDR photo 🤷‍♂️

Back to work on the shelves! Wife picked a bit thinner and to leave them square for now so no bevel. Less work for me 🤪 Using my new doweling jig to drill straight for the hardware to go into

Thoughts on cutting a bevel like this into these shelves? It may make it a bit more interesting. I wouldn't round the corners as much as this pic but would do a similar profile

Two shelf boards ready to go! Haven't cut them to length yet but have 4 square sides 🎉 have to decide the final length and also decide if we're going to leave them at this thickness - 1 13/16". I like beefy shelves but I think my wife will say a tiny bit thinner 😁
