Made it onto the paper of record!
Quote that says "the number of blocked crosswalks have gone down significantly" due to congestion pricing

Another year, another NYC Mayoral costume! This was by far the most I've ever been stopped on the street or had people recognize my costume. So many "do you ride cabs?" "do you smoke cannabis?" and "who likes to slap fannies and kill grannies?" Make sure to go to findmypollsite.vote.nyc and vote!

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is closing at 2pm, so I figured I'd be fine to bike the bridge at 11:30am.... I guess not...

Sidewalk extension and bike lane proposal on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. Let's goooooooooo (on the bus in the new bus lane, on a bike in the new bike lane, or on a walk in the new expanded sidewalk)!
Slide outlining a proposed street design for 24th to 26th Street on 3rd Ave. It details three-lane operation for traffic calming, an 11-foot super sidewalk for pedestrians, a 9-foot parking-protected bike lane for cyclist safety, and an 11-foot bus-only lane to enhance bus efficiency. The slide includes a cross-sectional graphic illustrating lane allocation, and an image of a similar existing setup on 9th Avenue in Manhattan, showing pedestrians, cyclists, and street life.Slide describing a proposed street redesign for 26th Street to 59th Street. The design includes repurposing travel lanes to create a continuous bus lane and a protected bike lane, adding a 9-foot protected bike lane at the west curb, and updating curb regulations to improve access and reduce double parking. It contains a cross-sectional graphic depicting the proposed layout, along with a photo showing a similar street configuration at 3rd Avenue and East 68th Street, highlighting bus lanes, bike lanes, and pedestrian crossings.

Early mail ballots are hitting mailboxes across NYC, so I wanted to share how I’m planning to vote! This is likely one of the most consequential local elections in years. With turnout in the primary expected to stay under 25%, your vote carries even more weight.
#1: Zellnor Myrie
The most pro-housing candidate.
I’m ranking him first to show that housing
is my top priority.
#2 Brad Lander
We’re aligned on nearly all issues,
and he brings deep managerial experience.
#3 Zohran Mamdani
We agree on most policies, and he’s becoming
increasingly pro-housing. He just has
less executive experience than others.
#4 Adrienne Adams
As Speaker, she led New York City’s
biggest pro-housing zoning reform
in decades as Council Speaker.
#5 NOT CUOMO
I’ll likely rank Jessica Ramos here, but
what’s most important is that
Cuomo isn’t on your ballot!
Samir’s
Mayoral Rankings:
Swipe for Comptroller, Manhattan BP, and more!Andrew Cuomo resigned in disgrace in 2021 following 13 credible allegations of sexual harassment and used $18M of tax-payer money for his legal fees. He should not be rewarded with the leadership of New York City.
During the early days of the pandemic, Cuomo’s public clashes with city officials delayed school closures and vaccine rollout, delays that likely cost lives. His leadership was defined by ego, not collaboration.
Cuomo penned an executive order forcing nursing homes to admit COVID patients, a decision that contributed to thousands of preventable deaths. He later lied by underreporting nursing home fatalities by as much as 83%. This wasn’t just a failure, it was a cover-up.
Cuomo drove out Andy Byford, the beloved transit chief, after repeated micromanagement made it impossible for him to do his job. If Cuomo couldn’t delegate even a single agency, how could he possibly run the entire city?
In October 2020, Cuomo published a book celebrating his leadership on COVID, well before the most contagious wave of the pandemic. New Yorkers deserve a leader focused on improving lives, not boosting their own ego.Mark Levine
Mark Levine has been a housing and transit champion as Manhattan Borough President. He’s appointed pro-housing Community Board Members (including myself), fought hard for congestion pricing, and consistently stood up to LGBTQIA+ bigotry.

Before becoming Borough President, he saved lives by helping New Yorkers access COVID vaccines. Mark Levine has the experience, values, and vision we need. He’s the clear choice for NYC Comptroller.

Keith Powers
As Council Member for District 4, Keith Powers has made housing a top priority. He knows we need more affordable housing across Manhattan and has focused on zoning reform to make that happen.

He also led the “Shed the Sheds” campaign to remove unnecessary scaffolding from our streets. Keith is committed to building more homes, lowering rents, and getting buses moving faster with new bus lanes. He’s the right choice for Manhattan Borough President.

For now I submitted a request for a no standing zone at that intersection and we'll see what they say!

I love to complain about how much further we have to go, but it's important to appreciate the wins! In order, here's what I'm celebrating today: 1. New QBB South Outer Roadway pedestrian path (no photo) 2. New RFK Bridge bike path 3. Davis Center at the Harlem Meer 4. Trash containerization!

This seems... wild to me? Building specific ID cards to go *home*? What is this, a dorm? An office? I wonder if these will be used to eventually tap into turnstiles? Has anyone seen this before?

I love that this can read as a "Thanks Obama" meme
The image shows a sign posted on a glass door inside a facility. The sign reads: "There are NO public restrooms in this facility!!! Thanks Management!!!" In the background, part of the interior of the facility is visible, including a bulletin board with the text "Welcome to AES," some decorations, and a blue-framed doorway leading to an outdoor area.

Please come join us on the City Hall steps to rally to end forced broker fees! Housing is already so expensive in New York City and to add on thousands of dollars in fees just to get a place is absurd!

This is sick and we should do it in New York ASAP. So many delivery cyclists use the Arrow bikes with the same batteries and if we can get a UL certified version of that then plop these in delivery hubs we would be golden!
