Great piece. Read this link: what an awful piece of shit Deters truly is. He describes himself now as a "retired lawyer", whereas the truth is the Kentucky Supreme Court forcibly "retired" him, by refusing to let him practice. caselaw.findlaw.com/court/ky-sup...

Panorama editor who oversaw entirely discredited episode stitching up Jeremy Corbyn with antisemitism smears wins top job at BBC News.

Rachel Jupp is feted as a "trusted troubleshooter". In other words: a safe pair of hands, ready to do the British establishment's dirty work.

I agree, but that's not the situation is it? Licence fee funding is suffering the death of a thousand cuts, Robbie Gibb is highly influential and Conservative, a Google guy is in charge, with a love for AI and redundancies. Whatever the BBC was, it is no more; let's stop pretending, was my point.

I think it's high time to flog the BBC to the Ellisons or whatever other madman that wants to buy it. This "Trust your dependable, impartial Beeb (not in fact anything of the sort)" stage is vomitmaking. We'll know where we are with 21.00 BBC1 "Laura Kuenssberg presents Squid Games from Ilford"

I'd like to think Major was being that dryly subtle; maybe he was, maybe he was tainted, for me, by association with rest of those ghastly quotees.
110
Sam Coleridge @samcoleridge.bsky.social · 9h
I reluctantly agree with your point but did Major (or any of them) really have to say anything at all? If you grit your teeth as a politician and lie for the Sake of the Greater Good it's one thing, to heap plaudits on a man who did very nasty things solely for the Sake of his Own Good, is another.

My Dad had a series of XJ6 company cars, a badly underpowered 2.8, then 4.2's in which back seat passengers roasted over an overheating diff. They became Demolition Derby favourites in late life. That V12 engine was unremarkable, at best.

I love/not love when you turn off traction control, "driver prompts" etc. as part of the weening process from being a driver to a steerer and then, when you go back after stopping, everything's back to default. (no doubt, saveable individual driver profiles may be buried in there somewhere).
