First timer 🙋‍♂️ Cracking view, cracking ground. Fancy a first win of the year but it's a tough ask at the ol' Madejski! #StockportCounty

Not sure what the hold-up is/was and I'm sure it'll be officially confirmed at some point but I believe he's gone back, yeah.

Sam Hughes has departed #StockportCounty to join Peterborough United on loan for the rest of the season. Would anticipate that County will be looking to add another defender before the end of the window. Potentially also a good sign on Fraser Horsfall's continued recovery.

🚨 Louie Barry is to be recalled by Aston Villa. Barry's final #StockportCounty game will be the League One fixture vs Birmingham City at Edgeley Park on New Year's Day. A magnificent young footballer who has added so much to, and grown so much himself with, Dave Challinor's side.

FT - Stevenage 2-1 #StockportCounty Undone by a really poor second half. Good first half, but chances missed before County had a job done on them by a physical Stevenage side. Nothing created in that second half. One of those really frustrating, albeit deserved, defeats.

HT 1-1 at Stevenage. County much the better side but fell behind to a really soft opener to concede, nicely tucked away by Dan Kemp. Callum Camps quickly levelled from distance, and County have gone on to miss a number of good chances since. Plenty in this. #StockportCounty

Big game today ahead of the festive period. Always unpredictable in terms of points returns over Christmas/New Year so would be lovely stuff to get off to a good start to that run of fixtures here at Stevenage. Tough one nonetheless! #StockportCounty

#StockportCounty have confirmed the signing of KR Reykjavik striker Benoný Breki Andrésson on a three & a half year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old Andrésson bagged 21 goals in 26 appearances for KR in the Icelandic top division last season (which ended in Sept). 🇮🇸

FT 2-0. Alfie May's first-half double wins it for Birmingham City. #StockportCounty shot themselves in the foot in the first half but a miles better second half with plenty to be upbeat about. By no means a season-defining defeat against a club that'll be back in the Championship next season.

County started brightly on the break - big chance early on with Will Collar off the bar - and looked compact, structured and hard-working at the back. But a combination of individual mistakes & mounting Birmingham pressure on the back of that have been fatal. #StockportCounty

Sam Byrne @sambyrne.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

HT 2-0. Alfie May double. Have to caveat the disappointment with the fact that Birmingham City just are a top, top side. But the frustration for DC/everyone is that they haven't really *had* to be a top side so far. Two sloppy goals to concede leave #StockportCounty with Everest to climb.

35' GOAL: 2-0. Down the County left again. Through ball in by Jay Stansfield behind Rydel for the lively Anderson, laid on a plate for Alfie May to tap home. Very good side, the hosts, and no point pretending otherwise. #StockportCounty doing themselves no favours though.

26' GOAL: Alfie May. You don't need that at a place like this! Ben Hinchliffe throws one out loosely toward Touray but never getting there, Anderson pounces and cuts back for May to fire home deflected. A goal completely of County's own doing. 1-0 #StockportCounty

5' County go mightily close early on at St. Andrew's, Louie Barry switching one for Will Collar, took the strike early and cannoned it off the underside of the crossbar and away. Cracking, vocal away turnout too. (0-0) #StockportCounty

One change from the Burton Albion game. Ibby Touray in for the suspended Fraser Horsfall. Sam Hughes was one of the ill players over the weekend so maybe a nod to that. Jack Diamond back on the bench too. #StockportCounty

Already seen a few (no offence!) older fans downplaying this, understandably given many have seen County play Palace. But a ton of younger fans will be buzzing and see this for what it is, a trip to an established Premier League club & a new ground to tick off. #StockportCounty

FT - #StockportCounty 3-1 Brackley Town Into the hat for the FA Cup third round. Had to work for it after a calamitous Callum Connolly own goal allowed Brackley back into the game, but job done in the end with Tanto Olaofe sealing the deal. Draw is Monday night at 7pm live on BBC.

86' GGOAALLL TANTO OLAOFE! Relief the overwhelming feeling around Edgeley Park when it just did not need to be. Tayo Adaramola breaks, crosses low for Tanto to clip home. 3-1. #StockportCounty

55' GOAL: What. On. Earth. Callum Connolly has just absolutely punted one into his own goal from the halfway line going for the attempted backpass. Absolutely no chance for Corey Addai. Calamity. 2-1.... #StockportCounty

HT and The Hatters lead Brackley Town 2-0 at the break in the FA Cup. All been rather comfortable so far, with County grabbing a quickfire double through Will Collar and Kyle Wootton in the first half. Could, maybe should, have been a few more in there too. #StockportCounty

18' GOOALLL Kyle Wootton! Callum Camps shot blocked, but Will Collar teases a cross back in for Kyle Wootton to just sort of ghost in unmarked and stoop to head home. 2-0! #StockportCounty

#StockportCounty vs Brackley Town must be one of the stranger dynamics for an FA Cup tie today. A regular league fixture for six years until recently (which Brackley often got the best of!) but now a big upset if Brackley win, and a home crowd with a full awareness of their lower-league visitors. 🏆

Dramatic headlines are always going to catch the eye and nothing would be a shock, but even the reports today about a recall say there's no actual decision atm. There were reports last year of a Jan recall and things can (clearly) change so again, nothing is decided until the time comes. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

🇮🇸 KR manager Óskar Hrafn Thorvaldsson has told local press today that #StockportCounty are interested in Andrésson. Believe there is plenty of interest from several clubs both in England and overseas in the young striker, but nothing beyond that from anyone at the minute.

Don't think #StockportCounty's shift toward signing young players with potential for high resale value could have gone any better than Lewis Bate. Signed on a free after leaving Leeds United in the summer, installed as captain & already thriving. A genuinely superb footballer.

Great pod (standard) & interesting chat on Louie Barry. Solid arguments both ways but I'd say LB's relationship with club, how he's been handled (especially after injury), able to flourish etc will all be taken into account. But would be naive of me to think those factors will paint whole picture!

Transfer rumour klaxon 🚨 KR Reykjavik striker Benoný Breki Andrésson linked with a move to #StockportCounty ahead of the Jan window. 19-yr-old hit 21 goals in 26 games for KR in the Icelandic top division this season, which ended in Sept. Believe there's a lot of clubs interested in Andrésson. 🇮🇸

Naturally endless speculation between now and January but until that time comes, nothing's decided and nobody knows what'll happen. Until then, it's just got to be about enjoying watching Louie Barry play for County and hoping it continues for the rest of the season. 🤴 #StockportCounty

The Inevitable Louie Barry (™️): "I really liked both goals but especially the second. As soon as I cut in on my right foot, I always trust myself." "They're the goals I like to score. I'm not sure I can trademark it, I think Arjen Robben's already done that!" #StockportCounty #AVFC
