Australia's renewable energy investment is already wildly insufficient. I would bet this isn't a risk, it's something that's already happening.
The surge in artificial intelligence and data center projects threatens to shift investor attention away from renewables and batteries in Australia, potentially hampering the country’s push to reduce emissions.
“It is a competition for capital,” Ridhaa Ahmed, head of investments at Grok Ventures, a climate tech investor backed by billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes, said at the Australian Financial Review’s Energy and Climate summit in Sydney on Wednesday. Data centers “really consume most of the oxygen,” he said.a chart showing aus renewable investment is too low

ok. He is successfully prosecuted. His career is "ruined" over sexually touching w/o consent. Women have had to endure this behaviour from male colleagues forever without anyone going to gaol or most often even taking it seriously. Hope to see women take legal action now w/o the usual penalty.

Outrageous that this occurred after two enquiries into sexual assaults and harassment in the military so something is not " getting through" to the men is it. And, they still require victim silence "to protect the privacy" of those involved. They don't mean the victims do they, or they could speak.

@albomp.bsky.social’s Govt has started appealing citizens’ #FOI wins to the Federal Court, a course of action that could cost FOI applicants up to $300,000. Well done to Senator Lambie 💪 for introducing a Bill into the Senate that will neutralise this transparency-chilling tactic. #auspol

the boldness Aust needs has no political home. The far right offers nostalgia for a wholly imagined monoculture. The left is pre-occupied with conservation and flirts with de-growth. There is not a political force in Aust focused on building wealth, independent security and strength.

Albanese and Penny Wong have offered no public congratulations to Pillay for he 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Britain, Canada, Japan and other governments have all condemned US sanctions against the International Criminal Court. Australia was silent until public shaming rose in volume. Late and lagging.

Infrastructure to charge with reliable access is THE primary barrier now to uptake, beyond commute vehicles. I don't want to be thinking about or even planning where I am going to get charged. And this includes regional and remote Australia. It's too stressful.

Migration is doing much of the demographic heavy lifting outside Australia’s major cities. Cutting it without a serious regional population strategy risks accelerating decline in smaller communities.
