Oh hai. Been hiding in my shed because the world is on fire. Made some neat pokey things tho. Kinda makes me think of a certain split faced thing (ifykyk). Made these from Cedar logs one of my uncles gifted me for drum making.

Two round, fancy door handle looking scratch awl tools, made from a cedar log and turned down on the lathe. The left half is red, and the right pale straw yellow. They have a copper plumbing pipe inlay where the "blade" enters the tool handle. The blades are made from an old drill bit and screw driver shaft that have been sharpened to a point. The drill bit one still has the spiral flutes.

Up in Ontario we were running some pretty funky axle setups with dead pushers, pretty much in the spot of a drop steer axle - if you forgot to raise the pusher, either the tires got torn off the rims, you left some 10/10 sick skid marks, or tore the suspension mount right out😂 I can't imagine those

Ontario spread axle arrangement on a dump truck. A grouping of tandem axles at the far rear of the frame, a non steering drop axle just past the middle of the frame - nearing the rear of the cab, and a spacing for the cab where your regular steering axle is.

Dealer want $300-500 to replace a broken hood cable? Cut back the sheathing, find some brake line that fits the cable looped back on itself, make loop and crimp that mofo hard. Done. Saved yourself utilities for the month and stronger than new

Exposed hood pull cable with the lever out of the way. Like a bicycle brake cable coming through the car floor

Two pieces of nickel copper brake line that will go over the cable - to crimp them together since you can't tie knots in steel cable

The pieces of brake line crushed around the pull cable, making a new loop to attach a carabiner, big knot etc, for a new hood release handle

Broken hood release cable? Check the mount first. 7/10 times the lil lead ball breaks free. Drill out the same diameter in a chunk of wood to use as a mold, flux the cable, get it hot and dip it in solder/lead and pop it back out. Boom, new cable terminator for like 15c, vs 30-200 at the shops

We had a revolutionary in the 60s when all this was building and coming to a head back then. Karoniaktajeh, Louis Hall. Personally I draw an incredible amount of strength & wisdom from his (and all the other travelers) writings. I'd almost argue his writings are imperative for us to study right now
