My friend just started Blood of Dawnwalker and she’s telling me what she did during the prologue, and we were both like “wtf I didn’t know that quest existed??” “wtf I didn’t do that?!” 😭 It feels like we didn’t even play the same game 😂 there seem to be so many possibilities!!

I didn’t know that! Wasn’t there also something about Dragon’s Dogma 2 having AI dialogue voices? Or at least people suspected it? Yeah sometimes it’s super obvious, but it’s probably more common to see it in little things you don’t notice, like random stuff in the environment and things like that 🤔

Yeah, idk. Unreal and Unity have already announced AI integrations, but tbh I haven’t read the fine print. Either way, it definitely feels like things are heading towards “more AI.” It’s hard to fight against that 😟

It’s already happening. I think it’s part of the reason behind some of the layoffs. And when you look at some of the games announced at events, some of them really look like they’re using AI-generated visuals 🤨

Ah yes I’d seen this picture 😂 And yeah, good point about game engines having AI built into them now, and us using it without even realizing it... Honestly, I’ve never really thought whether the default textures were made with genAI 🥲

Like you said, some people will be 100% against genAI, others will think it’s okay as long as it’s just ugly assets early in development, and others just won’t care at all. We’ll never all agree on that. Most important is that people educate themselves and make informed choices

Is the sound of a waterfall art? What is okay to generate with AI, and what isn’t? Is stealing photos of butterflies less wrong than stealing a character design? Everyone will have different answers, and I think that’s also where the conflict comes from.

I didn’t know about the numbers, like if 1 million pieces of art aren’t enough to create something decent… 💀 Honestly, this is such a deep and interesting topic. I think we’re all against using generative AI to create pieces of art, but what even is art? Is a stick figure placeholder art?

Is generating a 3D cube really that terrible? I don’t think so, but you’ll probably think it’s just as bad as I think generating concept art is. Everyone has their own moral compass, and these are interesting discussions to have. It’s much deeper than just a matter of technological progress, imo

I totally agree with you, like really, but I have to admit that if it can make my job easier by helping me with non artistic tasks that slow me down and aren’t the core of my creative work, I’m not sure I’d say no 😕
