You now I’ve only ever read Eagle of the Ninth. Perhaps I should read the other two in the Trilogy at some point

I love the audio book - it helps your understanding of of factual book when the author reads it as you know you are hearing it as they intended to be read/heard and not someone else’s interpretation of what is being said. When I read the physical book now I always read in your voice!

We weren’t far away from there today - in Near Sawery I do love Hardknott Fort. We generally plan our visits there very early in the day or quite late so as to avoid the tourists who don’t realise quite how awesome the road can be in places!😆

It’s not just the Edwards - I’m only just learning how simplistic the version if 1066 we were taught in School! I’ll currently getting to grips with all the various Scandinavian/Norman and other connections there are and what part they all played.

That’s why I’m always early on dig days when I’m excavating at Vindolanda- you get the Fort to yourself without excited school children or hordes of coach parties

At least you weren’t awoken at quarter to five this morning like we were when Benny Dog decided to be sick! Looks like the little horror had been sneakily bin diving before bed by the contents of his deposit!!

I’d hate to think what it’s going to be like over the Bank Holiday if there’s good weather. Pribably a queue down to Capel Curig and back! I think apart from work I’ll stay home and hibernate until next Wednesday when I have to go for my hospital appointment

Well I didn’t know that about the Mappa Mundi! Every days a school day 😆 Though the visitors/tourists coming into work usually call it ‘the mountain’ and ask ‘where’s the mountain’. My response is ‘which one we have several’!

I read in a local newspaper report that one of the survivors lost his whole family. His parents and brother and sister went on the trip. He’d been before and didn’t want to go so stayed behind in Barmouth. survived so awful to end a holiday by becoming an orphan and losing his siblings 😢

The toll road across the Cob at Porthmadog in the late 20th Century was run by a Trust named the Rebecca Trust after the Rebecca Riots. It closed in 2003 and was one of the cheapest tolls - 5p. The money collected went to local charities/organisations

It’s slightly damp here in NW Wales. Almost forgotten what rain looked like to the point of it seeming to be a mythical thing.

One of the memories from my early childhood memories staying near Porthmadog. Going down the coast towards Tywyn would involve 3 tolls the Cob at Porthmadog, Briwit Bridge to cross the Dwyryd and Penmaenpool. The only toll left is Penmaenpool. Love walking the Mawddach Trail from Dol to Barmouth

My current status? Cursing myself for having what seemed a simple idea only to find that finishing it off would be a complete faff and pain in the bum! It’s taking twice as long to do compared with my normal creation ideas! Many new swear words may also be created this morning!!
