On #AccessToInfo Day, we must be reminded that reliable, transparent information is the best defence against disinformation. The answer is more information, not more prosecutions. States must open their records, enforce access-to-information laws, and repeal "false news" offences. #IDUAI2026

#Eswatini Under Bill 22, the Minister can decide when the law starts, require reports and information on the Commission’s work, block evidence, approve or refuse donations, and make the regulations. Which one worries you most? Reply 1 to 5.

Where does the Commission’s report go? Under section 31, it goes to the Minister, who tables it in Parliament. The Bill sets no deadline, and the Minister can also require other reports and information. Should a watchdog report through the people it watches? Tell us below. tinyurl.com/2vktjh42

#Eswatini, you were correct. Myth. Section 17(1)(g) allows the Commission to visit prisons & police cells without notice. What’s missing: private interviews with detainees, full access to records, witness protection, and published follow-ups. Parliament can address these now.
