This is just a gentle reminder that there's no guarantee that the books we love to read won't be banned in the near or distant future. Get involved & tell 'em where they can put their book bans!

I'm not gonna lie—this was a dream project. @christelco.bsky.social & I turned six sapphic writers at the top of their writing games loose & let their Halloween imaginations run wild. The result is SOUL FOOD STORIES—a little sweet & terrifying, a whole lot warm & demented. tinyurl.com/sws6p7f6

Censorship has swept the US in the past 2 years, with 6K book bans since 2021. Dozens of states have passed or debated laws that restrict the freedom to read, leaving teachers & librarians feeling pressure to limit children’s access to information. Get involved. #LetFreedomRead and #BannedBooksWeek

A new PEN America report, “Banned in the USA: The Mounting Pressure to Censor,” documents a 33% increase in book bans in 2022-23 compared to 2021-22. Books about race & LGBTQ+ identity remain the top targets. You do realize that it's only a matter of time until they target our literature? Right?

Dr. Maya Angelou once said, “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” Every single day people are telling us who they are—and it’s time readers of all ages start believing them. 👇👇🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️👇👇 Read. Share. Do something. Protect our Literature. t.co/FtPlwC2fDA
