I actually managed to do some work on my game last night and am closer to getting the core rules done. I'm tempted to set a timeframe again but I already know that's a bad idea. I'm not great at keeping to them. I guess I'm just excited to make this a thing and want to hurry up.

Honestly most of the hate that Palworld gets I feel is overblown. The game has come into its own over the past couple years and the devs do genuinely seem to care about making it as good as it can be. I know it didn't make a great first impression for a lot of people.

Can't speak for Aniimo but Palworld devs did not use genAI. The only "proof" people have is a different game made by Pocketpair in 2022 that failed hard. That failure most likely led to their very public stance against AI. And "vibes" is not evidence that they do.

Yes, another Monster Rancher enjoyer! That's also part of the inspiration for my creature tamer ttrpg. I do like games that put more emphasis on how you interact with creatures. You see it sometimes in indie games but very few use that as a focus. Nimbit Frontier does this to an extent.

The stolen designs claim is also just false. The person that made the claim about stolen assets admitted to messing with the models in palworld to make them match Pokemon, i.e fabricated the whole thing. Plus, if you think "animal but anime" that's pretty much palworlds style.

Regarding the genAI claims: the only evidence people have is their failed game AI Art Imposter that probably led to their current stance on but using AI going forward. The other is the CEO being into crypto years ago but there's nothing really recent about that.

The general consensus is debunked slander. Everything negative said about the game was always stated with zero proof and people just took it and ran with it. Like the "scummy practices" claim is new to me as I see that get thrown around but I never see any examples.

Important announcement regarding the development of Aether Monsters

@Goblin How about some good news? So this is related to the development of Aether Monsters and my plans for when the eventual play test is launched. The quick and easy explanation: the game is still being developed, I am just having a hard time finding the time to sit down and work on it with my job taking up most of my free time, and the other things I want to do with streaming and YouTube. This isn't a bad thing: I have a stable income and I get to relax and have fun with my friends. While dev will be slow, I am not ready to drop this project and have no plans to. I am hoping that by picking at it after work here and there, I can get something out maybe in the start of the new year. With this, the work and gogh streams will be stopping. I haven't done them in a while and I don't know if I can do them with how busy my schedule is so I will just work on it like a normal person.

When I am close to a playtest release, I will be opening up a separate discord server (or something else if Discord tries to implement global age verification again) dedicated to Aether Monsters itself. Unfortunately hosting a dedicated forum site is not a possibility for me both financially and time wise. If that changes in the future, I will let you all know of course.

This game is my passion project. I am not going to promise it will be the greatest TTRPG of all time. It will be messy. The art will be crude (cause I will draw it myself if I have to). The rules will be janky at first. But I will try to make it fun to play. This isn't much of an announcement but I guess I just wanted to clarify where I am at with this.

Oh, and if there is a concern about supporting me financially, I really don't want to do that. Nothing against you all, I just don't feel comfortable with opening up a Patreon or similar things as that makes me feel like I have to provide more than what I can realistically offer. Like I can't promise you will get your money's worth.

A big concern I have with my game is guiding GMs on how to make balanced combat encounters. I'm not good at it myself in other games, the encounters are either a cake walk for the players or impossible. I can't find the right balance no matter what I try.

Aether Monsters dev is back on! I ran into a bit of a block cause I've been reconsidering the base system for the game multiple times now and finally decided on a d6 system. I know these are for more narrative focused games but the dice rules work really well for my weird creature training rpg.

I just spent the whole weekend recovering from some pretty heavy fatigue. I slept basically the whole day yesterday and today I beat Pokemon Sword so I can start working on shiny hunting in that. Next weekend I'll definitely be back streaming and doing more dev.
