like take Killer Croc, very easy piece of series ephemera as a villain, A LOT of people would say he's a better villain than Iron Man's Blizzard or Melter or Living Laser or Unicorn, but...does Croc imply a default setting for his story? does the setting precipitate a larger story? not really

I feel like there are 4 Batman "horror" stories: -Batman trips out -there's a big monster -villain story where Batman only appears at the end -some other story where Batman shows up to get broken for most of it

the weirdest characters from the '91 X-Men toybiz line have got to be these 3, NONE of whom I've ever heard of before looking into this

Tusk, whom I'm told has a super mutant attack also I Guess he's evil or something

Senyaka, some kinda evil cyber ninja I guess?

Kylun, allegedly a superhero? some kind of twin strike samurai ninja?

I think the 1887 Ten Days in a Mad House is sort of a key point of this, it was an article written by this investigative reporter who went undercover in New York's municipal asylum

Asylums are kinda tangentially important to a lot of horror outings like Halloween starts with an asylum escape, Nightmare 3 is sort of in that vein, Asylum & Tales That Witness Madness are both framed via an insane asylum but they aren't really the central thrust of the horror outing

poster for Halloween 1978 that I always thought was trying to imply some kind of pumpkin killer

it's weird there's not like a big "insane asylum" horror movie, right? like there's a bunch of "insane asylum" movies but not really a big horror movie one that helped shape the genre and became a key part of it?

the X-Force line tended to be a total dumping ground for oblique losers who ultimately feel endemic to the '90s "just make some guy up" era of X-Men

the Toybiz X-Men figures are like the last GOOD X-Men things we got IMO and in 1992 they made a biblically accurate "pre-comedy" Deadpool as part of the incredibly bizarre deepcut X-Force line

the uncanny x-men: X-force toyline skinny twink Deadpool figure

the back of Deadpool's box which describes him as "Deadpool is a mercenary and one of the world's most dangerous assassins. What makes Deadpool so dangerous is not his super-silent tracking ability or his assassin's arsenal of incredible weapons, it's his ability to paralyze his victims with fear. He enjoys doing that so much that sometimes he lets his victim go. A panic-stricken live victim, he reasons, does wonders for his reputation."
