It's a shader! All the assets are always drawn with the same colours and we swap palettes. After the game is done and I have more time I plan to write an article explaining how it was done :)

I self-host mine with Listmonk+Postmark, you have no limits, full control and you just need to pay for the server (5/month maybe less) and Postmark (15/month). Nowadays self hosting isn't as scary today as it used to be! I highly recommend this setup.
