I wonder how people manage to create only nice art in their sketchbooks. I could never flip through mine in front of other people without feeling embarrassed 😅

I thought I’d do a proper intro post with links 👋 I’m Jess aka Loadofolbobbins a textile artist and illustrator inspired by nature, books and coosplaying pigeons. 🐦❤️ Shop: www.loadofolbobbins.co.uk Birb Zine Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/loa... Newsletter: eepurl.com/hZtidz

A flat lay of a selection of original bird illustration prints by Loadofolbobbins. They’re all muddled together overlapping to create a joyful mass of birds. The birds you can see as illustrations are a goldfinch, pukeko, white browed tit warbler, curl crested aracari, brown hooded kingfisher, Californian sage grouse, king penguin, red billed oxpecker, bluejay, harpy eagle, Bluethroat, white created helmetshrike and a red and yellow barbet.

A selection of laser cut wooden jewellery featuring illustrations inspired by ivy and the wildlife it attracts. Working from left to right, a small vibrant variegated ivy necklace with a jersey tiger moth stuck to the leaf, a pair of ivy stud earrings (left one is variegated with lime green border & slightly darker green centre, right stud is dark green ivy leaf with light green veining), small wooden charm of an ivy mining bee, a swallowtail moth lapel pin on a illustrated ivy backing card, a large dark green veined ivy leaf necklace with red admiral butterfly stuck to bottom left, a jersey tiger moth lapel pin on a backing card full of ivy illustrations, pair of matching ivy mining bee stud earrings on a backing card, a small wooden charm of a golden hoverfly, a small vibrant variegated ivy necklace, a large dark green veined ivy leaf necklace with a golden hoverfly stuck to the bottom left and a red admiral butterfly lapel pin. Text says Ivy League by Loadofolbobbins

An original digital illustration of a Cassowary bird by Loadofolbobbins. The illustration focuses on its neck and head. A very dinosaur looking bird the Cassowary has a bright reddish orange wrinkled neck and wattle that transitions to a bright intense blue face with sharp angles of the skull visible underneath its skin. It has a beak slightly elongated and pointed downwards. It has a large eye with a yellowy orange iris that is glistening in the sun. On top of its head is a casque, which is an enlargement of the bone from its upper skull and looks almost like a Mohawk and is an array of greens in colour. The background is a splash of light grey ink.

A photo montage of pigeon themed product from Loadofolbobbins. Clockwise from top left a hardback book of illustrations called 100 days of Coosplay by Jessica Taylor and Fred the pigeon, a laser cut wooden necklace showing an illustration of a pigeon coosplaying as a unicorn, a series of three laser cut wooden pins showing illustrations of a pigeon coosplaying as Elizabeth the first, an artist and a roller derby player.

The fourth birb from the short list was the Cassowary. To me he seems like a real fashionista. #birbfest #birbfest2025 #art #fashion

Mornin’ all today’s #BirbFest2025 bird is the Crimson Topaz Hummingbird and this here is my illustration of it…. #BirbFest #Birds #Hummingbird #SciArt #WildlifeArt #BirdArt #ArtSky

An original digital illustration of Crimson Topaz Hummingbird perching on a branch by Loadofolbobbins. Facing its back to the viewer and its head turned to the right the main body feathers have a kind of ombré effect going from a deep rich red through warm oranges to vibrant yellow. Its head is a deep purple/red almost black with a long grey blue beak curving down at the end. It has two long thing tail feathers that curve over each other and are a deep purple blue colour. The other tail feathers just above this have an almost gol like iridescence. The back is a light blue inky splashy wash.

So here’s my offering for day 1 of #BirbFest2025 a Lady Ross’ Turaco, the punk of the bird world. Love the dark rich blues 😍 #Birds #BirdArt #BirbFest #WildlifeArt #SciArt #ArtSky #Illustration

An original digital illustration by Loadofolbobbins of a Lady Ross’ Turaco bird. With a deep rich purpley blue body and head it also has a pinky red Mohawk like plume of feathers on its head. The bright yellow beak curves and points down with the same colouring surrounding its eye like a mask. It’s perched on a large gnarled branch in grey browns with mossy bits of green. The background is made up of splashy ink marks that are light blue.

Time to look back on 2024. I made a little collage of my personal favourite pieces from this year. I didn’t draw much, but compared to the past years, I actually created something! Hope to be able to make more art next year. #kidlitart #artof2024 #watercolour
