The US ended public executions about 89 years ago for several reasons. Being disgraceful to the justice system was one of those reasons. That being said, I can guarantee you when trump starts killing people in death camps, their murders will be televised.

I distinctly remember watching an interview with Gene Roddenberry where he said the world of the future would in inclusive. He added Chekov at the height of the cold war to show world powers would one day get past their differences.

The only time I think it actually went well was that time Captain Freeman did that one covert mission in the episode Veritas. The only thing that went bad was during the surprise party after the mission was over.

If someone is gonna hate you because you liked or disliked a particular episode of a show then they need to really look within themselves about what they're doing with their lives. It's ok to dislike things, it's also ok to say you disagree with their opinion but don't be a jerk about it.

You know what would be really funny? If the rest of the world declares that the US will be known as South Canada. It'd be like how the rest of the world says, "Japan" when the Japanese call their nation "Nippon (日本)" or we call the nation, "China" when the Chinese people call it "Zhongguo (中国)"

My thought with that scene, was that Kirk had always been someone who's thwarted Klingons at every turn in the past and they wanted to use that incident as an excuse to have him extradited to the Empire. Like they didn't care about Kruge so much that they could use it to get Kirk.

@seanferrick.bsky.social Real debate topic. Klingons hold honor above all in their society. That being said, would the empire consider Kruge and his crew quvHa' (without honor) based on their actions. They destroyed an unarmed ship, took hostages, and attempted to kill the unarmed hostages.

It's that same toxicity I find in other fandoms that have an old history with new content. Star Wars is another where stuff like this happens. They beg for a new series but then hate it because it doesn't fit what they want it to be. It was like that between TOS and TNG and now between TNG and SNW

I'll be honest, I was quite surprised you disliked the episode so much. Personally, I had fun with it, though I agree the dream ending felt like a cheap way to end it. I'd have been happier if it was Q or Q Junior messing with them again without anyone noticing.
