Been dabbling with pixel art lately, here's my take on Tunnel from @sonicgalactic.bsky.social and made them in S3&K style. Mostly to see if I could consider making a whole sheet or something.

On the left, Tunnel the Mole as he appears in Sonic Galactic. On the right, Sonic as he appears in Sonic 3 & Knucles. The center depicts Tunnel using the sprite style of Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

9. Dead Cells. A fun rougelike game. The variety of weapons on display here is also fun for changing up runs. If you like Metroidvania titles, this game does an interesting job blending the genres together. Oh yeah, and they have a Castlevania DLC on top of that.

8. A relatively recent addition to this list, Rain World. This game can give you spooks, and not for the faint of heart (especially those who dislike bugs). But the game has some kind of flow that feels good, and you're just a cute critter surviving in a harsh world. Also, love a good mod community.

7. CrossCode! If I can make any recommendations for indies folks may have not played, it's this one. Rare to see an action RPG with a control scheme like this one and a really interesting story. Insert a couple Zelda-like dungeons, intense fights, and some fun sidequests and you get a good time!

6. Paper Mario. Specifically the N64 one comes to mind (TTYD and Super are both really great too). The N64 one just has a really special place in my heart because it's just a fun, whimsical adventure that elicits very nostalgic feel.

5. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. I'll never forget riding in my mom's car when I was a kid and reading a kid's magazine article on the Rescue Team games when those were coming out. Then getting the opportunity to play the games when I was in 8th-9th grade. Only to later finally fully play Sky.

3. CAUSE I GUESS THIS POST IS REVIVED NOW. Okami. An immensely special game to me since it is where I really learned art style is key in games. In a time when the realistic shooter was all the craze. A great story, and just generally being excited for the new entry as well!

2. Shovel Knight, it was THE game that got me to discover more Indie games. It's crazy to think it has grown this much since it's kickstarter. Now the devs are making Mina and that game cannot get in my hands faster!
