Congrats to La Puya and their allies, SAGE grantees, @ips-dc.org & @earthworks.bsky.social! A US mining company tried to sue Guatemala for suspending a gold mine that did not have the communities' consent. The company lost, in part, because of evidence supplied by the communities.

It couldn't be clearer. The Xinka people led a robust, seven year consultation process, mandated by the court, to decide whether they wanted Pan America's silver mine in Guatemala. They decided they do not. It's time for the company and the Canadian & Guatemalan gov'ts to respect their decision.
