I'd like to hope that OpenAI learned a good lesson from this: This specific run had the guardrails stripped out. (OpenAI had turned off its usual safety filters to see what the model could do at full strength, with no human involved in any of its individual moves.) AI still needs a human babysitter

They honestly should have started off with the discussion between yourself and Paul Kennedy. Siobhan was fearmongering too much. That was likely to catch the viewer's attention quick, but who knows if they stuck around long enough to listen to your view of it.

I actually wish they had started with Paul Kennedy and Ciaran as it was more of a calm and informative discussion between them. Viewers too often have all the attention span of a gnat, i'd hate to think of them sauntering off after just having listened to Siobhan's take. 😬

I greatly preferred Paul Kennedy to Siobhan Kennedy. I found her wording to be akin to outright fear mongering. I'm relieved they did have Ciaran on as more of a logical voice of reason. To be clear, it IS very concerning that the AI broke free from containment, that definitely shouldn't happen.

Most popular smart watches and fitness trackers aren't end-to-end encrypted, nor say how often governments demand access to users' data. My argument: If wearable makers don't want to disclose that they're turning over users' data to the feds, then the obvious fix is to end-to-end encrypt it.
