Hamnet was rubbish as a film. 2 hours I'm never getting back. Shakespeare could have taken the film off, he wasn't required. The only plot was "the twins like to play a (singular) bad trick", to a predictable end. The acting would have been good; if they had anything to work with.

My understanding is that the people concerned aren't asylum seekers as they already have residency in Ireland. But they just never moved out of the IPAS centres, and the places are needed for new applicants. But I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

But it was possible for other candidates to get on the ballot, if they were prepared to put the effort in. CC started canvassing publicy in July (and possibly privately before that). Mary Robinson started canvassing the January before her win. Not much point showing up the end of August.
