I am quite a hater of photo-based platform Instagram but quite a lover of photo-based platform Tumblr (in shape if not necessarily in current form). Much to think about. Perhaps it is the communal nature of a reblogged post.

I only kept age in there because I don't want anyone thinking I am under 25. The internet is real life but social media is not. As I've said many times over this (gesturing at my profile) is a beautiful performance to generate further intrigue in the viewer and so far it's been quite successful.

"(taffy reprise)" is a reprise of Taffy, a song from _____. I can't tell you anything else about it right now. I really want to get it right.

I wanted to film a music video for this, but I never got the chance. My own fault. I just love the concept. I still might do it if I feel like it. I think this is a real love song. It is at least a true love song from my heart at the time. I like the notion.

I always felt the song should be bigger, imagining being alone in a howling wind. I think I got most of the way there! Part of this release was convincing myself putting out something was better than existing in my lair in the dark. I'm not sure I convinced myself, but I did release this, so!

"Ballroom Dance For Modern Lovers" is a re-recording of a song from Message 2. The Messages were meant to be regular, low-effort releases as I got a grip on what "Roleplaying" was, but ended up being half-finished collections of what it could be that I never released. But I like what I did release.

I actually still really like the climax of this song still given the limitations it works within. I am less sure about the ending portion. I actually feel like it could be longer and I'd probably rewrite it entirely if I wrote this today. But it works for the EP.

I actually recorded the intro once and tried to replicate it a few days later and I couldn't. I think there was a ghost and it left and now it is in the recording. Riley broke one leg in his youth, and he's never walked quite right since. Maybe I'll tell you more about that later.

"The Hypnotist" started as another song called "The Exorcist." It's the only song that was fully recorded around the time I decided I wanted the EP to exist. The noise section at the start was a single guitar routed through an Attack Decay pedal, along w/some fuzz, etc. I don't remember.

Right as I was wrapping up the process of readying the album for release I realized the rhythm for Pool and Riley's is kinda similar. This decision has haunted me for about one million years. I always started songs with guitar chord progressions then and they just ended up echoing each other.

This recording dates back to when I just moved to Seattle in 2020, over four years before the release of the album. I tried re-recording it a bunch, but none of those recordings ever felt as good. It really needs whatever crunch is going on.

"Riley's Third Boyfriend" is a song I recorded a long time ago that never really had a home. Riley has existed as a character for a long time, but was only my fursona for two weeks in 2018. He never really fit. I'm really proud of some of the lyrics here. Shards of glass, etc... good imagery.

"Pool" is a re-recording of a song from "Christmas In Miami." That album is no good, but it could have been. It has moments I like but I was too novice in my recording ability to really communicate the ideas. I enjoy how sickly this song feels, like a love you know in your gut is wrong.

"(cat reprise)" is a reprise of Cat. "Cat" is a song which is part of _______. I also performed Cat live at the one show I've played. I wrote the first part of Cat before a bad breakup, and the second part after. I still can't say the words right, but that's a recurring theme in my life.
