It looks like Dave Carness was able to salvage about 25 minutes of the Dead Milkmen’s opening set for CVB. Not complete but it sounds pretty good in spots. I think this is the end of DM&#8217…

When you film with 3 cameras and pull a soundboard mix, it is really hard to get everything to go right. Unattended cameras aree overexposed, some drunk guy bumps a tripod and throws a camera off c…

Hm, I had been skipping over this one from Josh Parten’s collections because I thought nobody had heard of the band, but they seem to have quite the following. This was probably during a reun…

Here’s another one from Laura Martinez’ goldmine of rare Hard Rock/Glam demo tapes. The band was from San Jose and I don’t have much info on them apart from what you see on the J-…

I think I told this story in the other posts- Scott Kannberg (Spiral Stairs) was celebrating his 50th. I was given permission to film, but was only given a tiny space to do so(just enough for my tr…

I should have mentioned that today’s “On This date” post was from a show/event curated by Matthew Hargrove, and this is from Matthew’s collection! Another coincidence.Matt&#…

Oh man, this was total chaos. I took my 2 year old to the event while my wife took my daughter to ballet. When I got there and saw the parking situation, I realized that I was going to have to carr…

This appears to be an “official” DIY release but the tracking was off pretty badly on it. I might try another transfer but that constant horizontal line seems to be tape damage. Regardl…

First off, it seems that I am having an issue with Youtube. When I process these audio .avi files in virtualdub, they are the correct length. When I upload them to Youtube, it doubles the length of…

Sometimes, everything just falls into place. The band plays well and the crowd goes crazy, which causes the band to increase their energy & play better, etc. You only see shows like this once a…

Oh man, the day kinda got away from me. I had planned for the “On This Date” post that we did this morning, plus audio and video collections posts. Nope, too much to do. I feel bad that…

Man, it is shocking to me that these Mississippi Nights shows are not on YT. Here is a nice one that I had never seen until Jim Utz sent me his transfers of a bunch of the KDHX shows. Nice quality,…

This tape did not sound good at all when I digitized it. I EQ’d most of the distortion out of the original tape but it also muted J’s vocals, and drums were low in the original tape any…

When John, Pete and Lena contacted me about the Old Tyme Jamboree and sent a flyer, I could not believe my eyes. The Mummydogs were reuniting for the event! Guy (Thin White Rope, Mummydogs, Doc Hol…
