Flowers with long tubular corollas, like those of this honeysuckle (Lonicera implexa), are a favorite target of the violet carpenter bees (Xylocopa violacea). Although repeated piercings for gaining access to the nectar eventually damage most of the flowers, they can still carry out some pollination

Excited to be at the British Ecological Society Annual Meeting 2025. Presenting a part of my PhD that looks at Nectar robbery. Not all flower visitors are pollinators, some are cheaters too! Poster: A4.83 16th Dec 2025 Lennox Suite 18:00-19:30 (GMT) @britishecologicalsociety.org

Applications for our travel and training grant are now open for two weeks!
Against a green background, the text on the left reads, 'BES travel and training grants. This grant supports the training and development of PhD students and postgraduate research assistants. Grants of up to £500 are available.' Then, a dotted line is used as a spacer, and underneath the text reads, 'Applications are now open'.

On the right side of the infographic is an image of two individuals cycling in Guinea.
