Out of the 145 scientists mentioned in the high school curricula we studied, only 1 female scientist was named. Rosalind Franklin. This is a problem, and we are working with education depts. To fix this Learn about our mission at includeher.au

We studied high school STEM curricula to explore the representation of male & female scientists in these courses. We also checked if a name was mentioned because it's about the *person* (scientist) or if it's a law/idea *named after* the person (concept). The results vary dramatically!
Image of 7 pie charts showing the types of mentions in STEM school curricula. The results vary dramatically across states.

Science is a *human* endeavour. And yet, we continue to teach students as if it were only a *male* endeavour. We're trying to change that. Welcome to #IncludeHer! We're a not-for-profit working to correct gender biases in science education, follow along to learn about our research!

4/ Men get twice as much benefit as women. For every dollar of Stage 3 tax cuts women get, men will get two dollars. This will only serve to increase the wealth divide, and worsen gender inequality. #auspol

It's always a bit of a slog getting image processing done, and source catalogues ready for future surveys. It's worth it though, because our segmentation maps are looking great, and I'm really feeling the love today 😍 🔭

Signed up users can now only post to the astronomy feed with the emoji 🔭 (or hashtags #astronomy & #astro.) Previously, some relevant words would also cause posts to be added, but I'm trialing turning it off to make the feed only contain more focused posts. Link to the feed is below!

Well hello there! On this very cold evening in Perth, it’s the perfect time to be dreaming of bluer skies… Looking forward to finding my astro family here!
