Beating the game on nightmare is the top priority, so if I fail at either trial I'm going to power through for that and make another file for whatever I missed. The exception could (eg: I don't remember this perfectly) be one of the ambient npcs in Redcliffe who talks to his mother about being a mage. He's a teen/young adult and his mom seems to not accept the news he could be a mage at that point, but that may just be a long-standing denial.

Ghil is well intentioned but when has that ever made someone good? He's a shrewd politician. Pragmatic enough to manipulate people into giving him what he wants, pushy enough to fight him when they won't. Kinda goes off the deep end after Trespasser and devolves to an obsessive, paranoid mess.

Cecil is an ass. He's opportunistic as all hell, definitely compassionate but has veered into selfishness at current because he can't stand giving his all to everyone anymore. Plenty of people think of him fondly, an equal amount of people want him to fall in a ravine.

Alaran has a big heart and is known across Ferelden as being a wonderful person but he thinks he's horrible. He helped a lot of people but also failed to be a father to his children, performed an unacceptable (to him) dark magic ritual to escape death, and abandoned the woman who loved him for years
