❛Tch, no I don’t think I will.❜ Swats her hand away from his face with stern force. That ‘raging storm’ held his entire world. He wouldn’t leave her for anything or anyone.

He still doesn’t understand this insecurity, and quite frankly, it’s harder to deal with than her rage. ❛Those things are natural with pregnancy, right?❜ Zan slides around to face her. A rare moment his emerald hues flash crimson with irritation. ❛It’s you. Always you, damn it.❜

There’s no amusement in this whatsoever. ❛You’re telling me that you are threatened by this? You think I’d throw this away?❜ Hand courses down to cup the bottom curve of her belly. But there’s no tenderness to be found in his features. ❛You don’t trust me?❜ No, he’s not letting her leave.

000 0

❛No.❜ Straight to the point. This time he pushes her off with a bit more force. And he doesn’t owe her an explanation. ❛Move along.❜ Complete disinterest.

This isn’t going to blow over well. It’s not going to blow over at all, is it?

❛They are valid. But nothing’s happened. No threat to be had.❜ He really just wants a nice and quiet Sunday. Is that too much to ask? That smile directly following a hint of rage is… unsettling, to say the least.

Peels himself away from the woman’s grasp. Dead stare ensues behind his disguise. ❛I’m wearing a mask for a reason. I’d appreciate it if you kept your tone down and refer to me anything but.❜

❛Can we not do this today? …or ever?❜ Pads of indexes are rubbing against each temple. It’s not a big deal.

The gears are turning in his brain but he remains quiet. Two children... so pure and innocent to a cruel world. He doesn't deserve what Shelly's giving him. A grunt and an ❛oof–!❜ as he's crushed and suffocated. But his arms surround her. Fingers curl into the fabric of her clothing. Maybe →

that constantly plague his conscious but will never admit to. Not verbally, anyway. The green jewel within the shield on his arm glows, travels along his forearm, and ends at the pad of his thumb. Sharing his regeneration ability to heal that small cut. And then he gently cups her cheek. →

❛I didn't think to leave a note or message...❜ No, he only had business and objectives on the mind: sacrificing the life he knew for a new one. A new journey he has no idea how to navigate. No role models to refer to. No knowledge whatsoever. Does he even have a paternal instinct? Questions →

and yet this time it feels different. It hurts... like searing hot iron branding layers of skin. But he remains stoic and without brandishing an ounce of weakness. Until he repeats, ❛...children? There's more than one?❜ A hand reaches up, thumb brushing along her lip to wipe some of the blood →

The man doesn't squirm, resist, or fight when Shelly lifts him by his collar. In fact, he's limp and deadweighting. His apathetic gaze meeting the desperation and pleading in her own. Resigning to the fate that this may end in an ultimate loss. Loss. He's used to that. It's all he knows, →

It's instantaneous; Zan releases his grip on her at her behest. The unsettling aura surrounding them and rapid temperature drop causes him to tuck his arms within his cloak. It's best not to stay here, and clearly, his presence isn't welcomed just yet. He can't begin to understand how she's →
