This was my first thought (Trader Joe’s has a good version). My second thought was ayran (a delicious bottled beverage made from yogurt, water, and salt)

Right, voice isn’t much faster for drafting text that will ultimately be consumed by humans, but you can send an error-riddled and repetitive stream of consciousness to AI and it will just kind of figure out what you would have written in a carefully crafted, highly polished prompt

I went to a new Cava location last week and was surprised to see no ordering counter (app orders only). Fortunately they were extremely generous with the portions

That’s the wrong question and it valorizes white institutions and white ways of knowing and being and structuring society in really problematic ways.

Why would I vote for them when all they did when they were in charge of the country in 2020 was give each American a single $1,200 check and literally nothing else

Dipping a double stuf Oreo in pancake batter and frying it for a minute or two on each side in 375° peanut oil is probably better (much much messier, though)

I keep my electric stove knobs in the drawer so my cat can’t turn on the stove when I’m gone or sleeping (he got away with this once before I started doing this)

Shin Black is great but it’s a little on the spicy side if you use both seasoning packets in full and don’t let the broth cool down for several minutes

Some Brits upload collar camera footage of their cats roaming around London and it does look a lot more entertaining than spending all day in the same boring unit. (My indoor cat wrote this post.)

Looks like it only has two seats? Presumably the overwhelming majority of taxi/rideshare trips have two or fewer passengers

Yeah, but our water loop stopped flowing, so no AC. (I realize this is kind of trivial compared to what others are experiencing!)

I haven’t heard any insanely loud thunder like we experienced the other day but this one was extremely windy and intense otherwise. I lost power but it came back after a few seconds

Pretty similar population-weighted density, but LA’s transit mode share is only 4%

It didn’t actually know to check the contractor’s license; it just predicted what a household manager would have researched if asked to draft an initial email inquiry to a contractor. Of course it checked OPLA, because that’s what a competent household manager would do

The listing encompasses two 5 acre parcels, one of which has a taxable equalized assessed value of around $50k and property tax bill of around $3k. The other parcel—the one on which the primary residence sits—has a higher valuation and tax bill by an order of magnitude

$40k property tax bill; 80 minute rush hour commute each way to the Loop (the listing does not include the exact location but it’s trivially easy to figure it out)
