French government: we 'ave raised the price of stinky cheese by 0.5%

French people: we are on our way to parliament with grenade launchers

British government: it's illegal to strike now. It's also illegal to protest. We have abolished "hospital". The police are allowed to spit on you

British people: oh bother, how tiresome. I wonder if this was caused by genders

Single cylinder engines sound very silly. Just a big donky 400cc piston whacking around lol It's not a /fast/ bike, but I don't go to the track, and it's nice and nimble on the back roads. Should be fun on light trails too

God Harriot's writing is good
Some would argue that our ability to discuss this so-called “controversy” without bias is compromised by our relationship with NABJ.

I agree.

I am biased. That’s how journalism works. Having more information and additional context allows news gatherers to deliver a more informed perspective to the public than random reactionaries who speculate about tweets, online clips and out-of-context headlines. It’s why political reporters ride on Air Force One, and sportswriters wait in locker rooms. Attending the White House

Not really sure why even, this map is not that big, they could definitely get this thing in there if they wanted XIV has always been really stingy with its maps while being, uh, overly generous with its stories, lets say Feels like a corporate mandate that every story must be like 40 hours

FFXIV has done this weird thing for a while where there's some massive, sick-looking thing in the distance in a given region, but it's way outside the field of play "See that mountain? You can't climb it, actually.
Screenshot of FFXIV, in one of the endwalker regions. I could not be assed to tell you what it's called, I exclusively refer to this place as fantasy India. The depiction is borderline offensive. Everybody is an elephant.

In the distance is a huge, unrealistic-looking land horn mountain thing made of purple crystal. Magic I guess, idk man, Endwalker was really mid

Finally decided to trade in my Benelli; picking up this beauty next Friday, can't wait I've always been a much bigger fan of the Himalayan 411 than the 450, and they're getting so rare now. This thing is like the exact spec I've always wanted; red with ABS and factory cargo

Over the weekend I modified a Razer Naga Elite V2 to use electromechanical switches instead of opticals. Kailh's 2-pin dome-style microswitches are totally silent, and don't have the same debounce issues normal microswitches have. No extra debouncing was necessary for this conversion
A disassembled Razer Naga Elite V2, a black computer mouse. The main microswitches have been removed, and one of them has been replaced with an absolute doohickey, a roughly soldered together circuit comprised of a BJT, a 4.7k resistor, and a Kailh 2-pin microswitch

The trip also involved unplanned detours. For fun, not for extra charging! We detoured out of Moncton to see the Hopewell Rocks, which added about 100km to the drive from Moncton to Wolfsville on day 2.
A photo from the balcony overlooking the Hopewell Rocks on a beach. They're several strange looking geological structures carved by the changing tide into the conglomerate-based cliff face. Idk I'm not a geologist.

So ok, it's been really clear that this is the case for a while, but it's worth saying straight up: When they say "the network", they just mean HTTP. "If you don't like us you can go build your own entire website, and the work we've done makes that no easier than just using HTTP"
Post from some guy who works at bluesky, idk

"My position is pretty simple: if someone's way of engaging online is through harassment and pile-ons, Bluesky is not the right fit for you. The network is open and decentralized, and people are free to build or participate in communities that align with how they want to engage online"

I'm actually going to call this a moral failure and point to it as "where we went wrong" Programming is an act of creation, like anything else. It should be fun, and we should care about it, but we can't, due to capitalism. Wow yes, thank you for noticing, my room lights are both blue and pink.
