As the HCC Transport Spokesperson, it’s important I recognise infrastructure that is not capable of supporting the transport needs of the community. That’s why I’m asking council to write to the State advocating for a redesign of the Domain Hwy, Brooker Hwy interchange #politas

We’re making the final call on this block on Monday. Hoping to elevate cycling above just Sharrows.

Will do my best. I think you can sign up to your say and you’ll be notified of each engagement the city puts out

Hi Jacob! Not at this stage. First step is to get the infrastructure built. Councils are doing the on land component and state government is doing on water & service delivery (boats, contracts and timetabling)

The closure of two major private health services within Hobart City only adds weight to the calls I have been making for years, recently alongside the AMA for the planning of a second public hospital in Greater Hobart to get underway immediately. Football can wait, expectant mums and dads cannot.

Calvary does not have the capacity to take on HPH clients and so they will inevitably turn to the Royal Hobart Hospital. This will undoubtably put pressure on an already stretched workforce.

Much like the closure of the private mental health hospital “St Helens”, this is a devastating blow for the people of Hobart. Especially as the mother and baby unit was moved to an inappropriate place within RHH as a result.

This is my son Emerson taken a few days after he was born at Hobart Private Hospital. Today, we have learned that Healthscope are closing the doors to the next generation and will no longer offer maternity services. #politas

This is sick 🤟 She shreds is all about supporting and encouraging women and girls to get together to skateboard. I’m a massive advocate for any organisation or facility that brings people together. That is what community is, and to a degree what life is all about.

We have tried every mechanism legally available to us. It’s a plaything of the state government and they seem unwilling to move the needle at all

Thrilled to let #politas know the West Hobart Local Area Mobility Plan was endorsed by Council last night. The proposed changes will bring our community closer. It will discourage people using the “rat run” & encourage walking or riding around our wonderful suburb more often in comfort & safety.

“It should not be easier to build forever Airbnbs than actual homes. The best way to correct this perverse imbalance is to relax planning controls on medium-density and infill residential developments.” Well said! #politas

Here’s some of my comments from last nights tricky planning decision as reported by Pulse Tasmania Planning Directive 6 is a major thorn in this City’s side. Poorly drafted with almost no grounds to refuse a short stay application #politas

Fascinating debate on short stay accomodation vs visitor accomodation vs residential currently occurring in Hobart planning committee. Worth a look #politas

Councillor Ryan Posselt @ryan-posselt.bsky.social · 20/01/2025
Yeah, it seems to be related to building cost increases. I do wonder if density is part of the problem: that we don’t allow dense enough developments for projects to be financially viable…

Councillor Ryan Posselt @ryan-posselt.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
I think it’s unlikely as demand remains pretty strong. It’s a major issue if developers go down this route instead of just building housing/apartments.

I am appalled the planning scheme allows this to happen. How can can this be considered a residential development and not a commercial hotel #politas ? 12 units, all for short stay accomodation. Fix planning directive 6 NOW

I think it will - actually I’m fairly certain. Haven’t seen the capital works list for next year yet, but I’ll keep you updated!

Well #politas I’m back for another year of debate. Big ticket items for Hobart this year: ❌ The stadium ✅ Battery Point Walkway ✅ Ferries ⬆️ Medium density development Smaller ticket: 👨‍🎨 Line marking 🌳 Street trees 🚌 Bus stops 🚶 Footpaths 🍽️ On street dining ⚽️🏀🏐 sports infrastructure 🛹 skatepark

So strange that business lobby group leaders think that traffic through our CBD represents business. Liverpool/elizabeth sees about 12k pedestrians/day compared to 4k cars. Which one is more likely to spend #politas?

I’ll have it added to the elected member support & development policy! Very glad to hear consultation will be extended to all residents and educational institutions within 1km of the terminal. Should balance things out nicely.

Weird to see a collective of elected members walk out while a ratepayer/resident/community member is giving an emotional deputation on a controversial development during a statutory planning meeting. #politas

I understand LegCo has voted down the Deals for Developer mates Legislation for Development Assessment Panels. It was bad legislation not supported by any council in Tasmania, not even supported by @YIMBYHobart Thanks to those in LegCo who understood this. #politas

Absolutely. Fortunately for me, I did a stats course as part of my research honours. The result is equivocal in my view, with a 50/50 result falling within the margin of error. Cannot believe Abetz is using it as any sort of evidence. Also it’s council business so just stop getting involved Eric!

This is really quite a remarkable result, we hear that “no one wants bike lanes in Hobart” yet here we have a result showing almost half of those surveyed support the Collins Street Bike Lane Project. Crack on then! #politas

Very proud to have been part of the ramping enquiry ❤️🚑. I deeply thank every single person who made submissions gave evidence. I draw readers attention to the tables published between pages 177 & 181 which reveal just how bad it has become. #politas www.parliament.tas.gov.au/__data/asset...

Great to open the Bus Industry Confederation Conference in Hobart this morning. The key note delivered a speech centred on demographic challenges that are likely to rear their head in 10 years around workforce, borrowing and settlement patterns. Good food for thought

Well I’ve made the jump and now operate no less than seven social media channels. It’s a bit nuts but I’m pleased to see so many familiar #politas identities have jumped over too. Onwards!
