I’m very well thanks! Preparing eldest for secondary school in September 😰 x

Thank you Kala! 🥰❤️🎉

Oh no, does it continue in secondary school?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m a big fan of the ‘wear something comfy you’d snuggle down and read a book in’ approach! How are you? Hope you’re well! Xx

So excited to finally reveal the gorgeous cover of #HomeSweetHome! Coming 19th June!

I whole-heartedly agree. Especially if there’s cinnamon involved.

I’m not sure I achieved ‘full hygge’ but it’s definitely more hygge than just me and the laptop.

I did this and it was one puzzle after another! But I know what you mean. Knowing I was clueless meant my expectations were reassuringly low. Thank God for YouTube explainer videos.

Devoured this, #TheSequel to the equally incredible #ThePlot. It revolves around publishing, plagiarism, #amquerying, agents and editors. Throw in murder and stolen identities and you have two unputdownable novels! Read The Plot first!! #amreading #writingcommunity

😂 why am I imagining a dance like YMCA?

Ruth Irons @ruthirons.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

I also sing ‘Desperado’ every time I drink Desperados, but I KNOW I can’t be alone there?! Maybe we should be considering Eagles covers 🤔😂

😂 I’m so bloody rock ‘n roll!!!

Ruth Irons @ruthirons.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

Am I the only person who sees these packets and sings ‘seedless easy peelers’ to the tune of ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’? I’m hoping not, but I’m guessing ‘yes’. 🤔

This year I’m going to be listening to more audiobooks (finding reading time is tough with a little one!), starting with The Perfect Guest by @ruthirons.bsky.social

I love this. So much nicer than it all being about self-punishment and miserable weather!

So I’m finding the hygge moments throughout this month, and beyond. Here’s my first #hyggejanuary moment. Coffee in bed with a chapter of my book, late on a Sunday morning with the rain lashing down outside. #hygge #cosy #wintertime 4/4

January is cold and dark - and added to that we feel the need to punish ourselves for the lovely time we’ve had over Christmas. No wonder it can be a miserable month! I’m all for self improvement - but even so, we can still be kind to ourselves. 3/4

Delicious food, reading by a fire, hot chocolate, lighting candles - all hygge! It doesn’t have to be extravagent. Just small moments of peace and warmth. My mum gave me this book by @MeikWiking a few years ago and I love it. It made me realise I’ve always had a hygge soul! 2/4

Ruth Irons @ruthirons.bsky.social · 05/01/2025

Instead of Dry January, I’ve decided to do ‘Hygge January.’ Will it catch on?! Here’s my thinking: January can be a slump because the twinkle of Christmas is over - but so many of the joyful things associated with Christmastime can continue throughout winter … 1/4

So now we’ve got one of the accounts saying ‘I’m being impersonated’ and the OTHER account commenting and saying ‘exactly!’ I’m so confused on this one 🤦🏻‍♀️

My wonderful friend got me the perfect mug to accompany edits of my second novel! This is my mantra right now. #yougotthis #amediting #writingcommunity

Mug with words ‘you got this’ on the side.

9 years ago today, and a different version of me! Played violin on X Factor for Louisa Johnson at Wembley Arena, then out of the blue ended up playing for Rod Stewart too! Crazy times 🤯🎶 🎻 ❤️ #musician #violin #xfactor

Me performing in white on stage with other musicians.

Sign on Rod Stewart’s door reads ‘Rod Steward Band’

Was about to post then realised my outfit matched the book, so had to be in the pic too! Absolutely LOVED this novella by @petermswanson #TheChristmasGuest. Cosy but chilling, dark yet comforting. And with a wonderful twist! #christmasread #christmascrimebooks #booksky

I’d been getting a bit down about the number of fake author accounts on here - so I’ve been massively cheered up by the fact Keanu Reeves has just started following me!! I can’t wait to hear what investment opportunities he has for me 🥰❤️💰

I reported another fake author account the other day and now it’s been taken down so hopefully yours is close behind! 🤞

4 years ago I had my first ever thing published - a short story in a children’s magazine ❤️ It’s been one helluva journey since then! 2 pieces of advice I would give new writers: explore different genres and story lengths … and send, send, send your work out! #writingcommunity #booksky

I’m in the market for some festive murder! Any recommendations of Christmassy mysteries? Last year I read P.D James’ ‘The Mistletoe Murder: and other stories’ and loved them. 🎄 🗡️ 🩸 ❄️ #booksky

Having spent most of the day ranting about fake author accounts, I’m spending some time talking about a real author! #ANovelMurder is out next June and it’s FAB! Funny, compelling, twisty, & set at an unsettlingly familiar crime writing festival. Authors will LOVE this! @evilevehall.bsky.social
