@helenbarrett.bsky.social It’s a marvel, convenient for Brighton Station. New book in the British Library series by Travis Elborough has one the most delightful descriptions of the inside of a record shop I have read, of the Record Album shop in Brighton: 'The output of Howard Keel had its own bin.'

Charlotte Glasson and her band of smile-imagineers are playing at the Ropetackle arts centre on Thursday 24th September. Promises some new tunes, some older favourites and a chance to her her new project, Yellow Moon. I’ll be in my usual place, with the CDs and light refreshments

The current state of a poll on whether the UK nuclear deterrent should be adapted to include Germany under shared protection is significant on two levels: cooperation would be a sign of strength away from NATO and sign of UK European ties that should be renewed to a new post Brexit level.

But see the film, which is thought provoking and fills in a gap in many a history syllabus, demonstrating how the global north and its democratic heritage acts as a mask for something darker. It’s on BFIPlayer.

We had a glorious drive home from Shepton Mallet last night. Tobacco skies across the mendips and farmland on Somerset. No pictures there sadly, but much love from a fabulous day at the mid summer festival. Here is a picture of Arthur Brown in all his glory.
