I appreciate the gift link, but I would like you to know, going forward, that that is no longer enough to read NYT articles. It now requires an account, regardless. (Unsure if you knew this already.) I'll still read this piece though, looks interesting.

This past Spiral Abyss in Genshin is the first one I've ever gotten 36 stars on. Generally anything above 30 is more effort than I can be bothered with, especially since I've accepted that I have a poor grasp of rotations and awful skill issues. But this time it worked out!

"go to hell" is basic. "i hope one of your favorite fanfics that you bookmarked on AO3 gets deleted" is smart. it's terrifying. and it's extremely possible.

Whenever people post those compilations of Fatui Harbinger introductions, I am always baffled at how/why so many people didn't see Scaramouche's introduction correctly and say his name is so long that it went off the screen. It showed up just fine for me when I met him in 1.1.

Surely this is the fault of those dangerously reckless cyclists I hear so much about! #bikeden

This is from Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, but notably it was put up in 2018.

Spotted during the Genshin 5.5 livestream. Charlotte is gonna be in Natlan! Truly Ms. Worldwide. She's now been seen in all six nations of Teyvat so far.

when I first got into Genshin I didn't really care about moon lore until I saw this tweet. now with the moon lore drop I'm thinking about it again because this is exactly how a lot of the newer fans are reacting

Jack 🎉🇵🇸 (@childeology)
childe: isn't the moon beautiful tonight?
zhongli: (nodding sagely) yes. its corpse has stayed in great shape after all these years

childe: its what?

happy anniversary of the time I was born premature because I absolutely needed to be older than my cousin (whose birthday is in nine days)

I'm reminded of Urbanist Godzilla

Screenshot of a WSJ opinion piece by right-wing dipshit Chris Rufo, "New Left Urbanists Want to Remake Your City", including the amazing illustration of a Godzilla-like monster made of dense apartment buildings that is breathing fire at single family houses and cars. Given the context, you're supposed to think of this Urbanist Godzilla as a bad thing and not the coolest thing you've ever seen. Illustration credited to Chad Crowe.

And finally, not a headcanon but an interesting idea I think more people should pick up: trans Nahida. Don't care about the specifics too much, either transmasc or transfem would be interesting. Mostly because of Ganyu's since-retconned line from Solitary Fragrance, part of the Liyue Archon quest:

Screenshots from Genshin Impact, from the Solitary Fragrance segment of the Liyue Archon Quest, as it appeared in version 1.1:
Ganyu: Of the current Seven Archons, the youngest is Sumeru's God of Dendro. He is merely five hundred years old, whereas Rex Lapis was more than six thousand years old at the time of his passing.
Ganyu: This means that Liyue had been under Rex Lapis' rule from the moment it was first founded 3,700 years ago. The city has never had to bid farewell to its deity...

And in that web event it is brought up again, plus we see a glimpse of what that hypothetical female Rex Lapis looked like. I realize ofc that none of the web events are really canon but this is quite enough for headcanon purposes

Screenshot from Stone Harbor Treasure Journal with three different versions of Rex Lapis, including a female one
