closing the loop of serendipity, good buddy @tigerthelion.bsky.social happened to be in Toronto right after the cabinet was finished and i got a first hand report. incredibly fun to see a friend playing this real-ass cabinet for a fan game i made a full decade ago. surreal

it was pretty fun(ny) to dive back in to some of the first game code i ever wrote. i sure have learned a lot lol i also got to revisit the game's pixel art and make this marquee art for the cabinet. it was fun to redraw this motorcycle fella at x2 size

Dan built a spinner controller and i worked on adapting the game's controls/UI to work with the spinner cursor input (i found the game actually plays better w the mouse!) Dan hooked up a fan to blow in your face as you accelerate. he even composed music for the game, which it was sorely lacking

so flattered and inspired by this: i helped someone make their own arcade cabinet for very first game, 8-Bit Emperor‼️ 8-Bit Emperor is a PICO-8 "de-make" of Black Emperor by Tomás Vicuña and BumbleBear Games. this guy has a Black Emperor cabinet and wanted 8-Bit Emperor too. it looks so good!
