#5albums70sfinal MADNESS ONE STEP BEYOND Great album glad it made the final. 2 tone arrived with the Nutty boys in the mix with their covers and fresh sound great hooks and Cockney charm. I found them a throw back to Music hall in a strange way and all the better for it. Great lads still going.

#5albums70s5 THE UNDERTONES A whip crack of a debut album from 4 young Derry lads who put together a new wave classic of all under 3 minute gems to light up 1979. It rattles along with Feargal's amazing vocals and teen angst writing from the O Neil's. A joyous listen in under half an hour

#5albums70s3 SISTER SLEDGE WE ARE FAMILY This is not a standout pick but it's an absolute joy of a record which I've loved since it's release. Rodgers/ Edwards and Chic with Faultless pop funk soul production and the Sisters enjoying the hits with vocal precision and family harmonies. A great joy

#5albums70s3 TUBEWAY ARMY REPLICAS Introducing Gary Numan in 1979 was this mesmerising and groundbreaking piece of work. Down in the Park and Are friends electric are examples of this Humanoid delivery but also of excellent song writing futuristic for the time of post punk and disco. Fabulous
