I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna listen to the DH&J episode. The intersection of Tumblr and Nerdfighteria in the 2010s was the most formative part of my adult life, and there is a part of me that has needed this story/catharsis for 12 years.

One of my first teaching jobs went so far out of its way to make my cohort engage in neuro-normative icebreakers that they literally termed them "funcomfortable". My trauma brain was not having it, and I got even further ostracized from the group as a result of not participating!

If I was forced as a young child to spend 120 minutes every weekday reading texts that have no relevance to me, I would also hate reading. I specifically moved to early childhood education from elementary because of this. Standardized testing companies have destroyed teaching reading.
