This never happens to me. But over the weekend I went to a coffee shop at the precise time they were packing up these baked goodies. And she was like do you want any pastries? On us. I was delighted to accept this gracious offer. Timing was a fluke but I was a very happy bunny.

We ran a survey at a roundtable event with senior leaders in gov, we had expected reputational risk or cost to be the key factors slowing down innovation projects. Turns out, they ranked governance processes as the single biggest barrier 💡

Lovely weekend back in Istanbul with the lads. Started off 👎🏼 when I collapsed twice on the plane but once we got there things picked up. Lot of walks and delicious food and sights and laughter with old friends. Incredible city 🇹🇷

The many people who work at both holy sites are incredible human beings. They keep things ticking for the millions of visitors. Keeping sacred areas clean, providing water to all, making sure libraries are organised and always ready to point you in the right direction. Many are from Bangladesh ❤️

Arrived in Madinah couple hours ago. Almost straight away you notice the different vibe here compared to Mecca. Mecca is powerful, intense, physically and emotionally demanding. Madinah feels more calm, gentle and relaxed.

Tomorrow is my last day in Mecca before we go to Medina. It’s been an emotional, (at times) stressful and very spiritual experience. The stories my grandad told me about the grand mosque have come to life. It really is the city that does not sleep. Inspiring to see such devotion and history.

The heat is something else though. 30 degrees in winter. Albeit there is a nice breeze early morning and evenings. Not complaining…I’m getting alerts from my Nest thermostat back home that it’s having to kick in due to -5 temps in London.

Absolutely exhausted after completing Umrah but it’s indescribable how I felt to see the Kaaba in person for the first time. Reading about it and seeing it on TV doesn’t really compare when you see the whole place, scale of people and the pilgrimage itself.

Almost a year after we bought this house, the title papers arrived. To my surprise, they included the original handwritten title deeds, mortgage agreement, conveyancing and HM Land Registry documents from 1930 as well as docs from the next owner in 1962.
