Thank you to everyone who came to our 5th anniversary event at the UK National Memorial Wall and who joined us on our Walk of Memories. It was powerful and moving to share our grief as we remembered our beloved dead. We will never forget them. ❤️

We can assure you that to the families of the dead represented on our Wall, who were unable to be with their dying loved ones because they obeyed rules made by and then cynically flouted by those in power, it was not just 'a bit of cake'. It was devastating. Breathtaking insensitivity by Madeley.

We love the review of #28YearsLater from @davidhering.bsky.social's substack, 'Notes From the End of Cinema' - especially these insightful comments about trauma and memorials. ❤️
Two pictures. One, a tower of human skulls. Under it is a picture of the memorial wall. The text reads:

davidhering.substack.com

Human bones, in this moment, is transfigured from gruesome spectacle to site of remembrance. As with the post-9/11 collage of the dead and missing in 28 Days Later, this can't help but recall the Covid memorial wall of hearts in London, or the sea of
white flags in Washington DC. Boyle is tapping into something very potent here: Britain is not over the pandemic, and it's not over Brexit and the blind rage that it unleashed. Rather than an island full of noises, it's an island that cannot fully vocalise the trauma that it has been through and continues to go through. As of now, it feels like the only British film that has fully tried to reckon, albeit abstractly, with what the
country has experienced.

We'd like to thank all our supporters, donors
and fundraisers who have helped keep us
going, and who have enabled us to get to this
significant milestone.

We are also hugely grateful to the
Charity Commission for recognising the
public benefit of the Wall, and for their help
and guidance in navigating the complicated
and complex path of achieving charitable
status for this extraordinary memorial
to our beloved dead.

We will never forget them.

Becoming a Registered Charity is a huge step
forward, as we continue to work with
government, the local council and all other
stakeholders towards the Wall being made
permanent.

It will enable us to access a wide range of
funding opportunities, work with new partners and strengthen our case for the permanence of our unique memorial.

It also provides additional transparency and
reassurance to everyone who supports us,
which is vitally important as we go forward.

The weather was cold, but our hearts were warm as we received this incredibly generous £1650 donation from Tim, Nikki, Bess and Rosie, who took on the 3-peaks 48-hour Tatras challenge in Poland in memory of Pat and Jan, who are remembered on the wall. Thank you so much! ❤️
The volunteers and the four fundraisers are standing in the rain against the red painted hearts of the memorial wall. On the final day of Module 3 of the Covid Inquiry it was an honour for the volunteers to have a visit from leading voices of CATA (Covid Airborne Transmission Alliance). We are so appreciative of their tireless efforts to get the government to accept that covid is airborne. ❤️

At the #CovidInquiry today, we noticed these stitched hearts on display. "A thousand hearts were shattered..." ♥️
A piece of framed tapestry. In the centre are red, pink and blue hearts with gold threads extending from them. There are words in the border that read "Covid-19 the pandemic began in 2020. In the months that followed, thousands of lives were lost and thousands of hearts were shattered. Try to imagine a golden thread binding them together. "
