Ruffigan @ruffigan.bsky.social · 22/10/2025I get that. The CI of Hybrid cards has been contentious since the RC first defined them. How Maro intended them to work and how the RC interpreted them to work are at odds. As a rules guy it is important to keep the debate rooted in what is already precedent in the rules. The other examples you gave (Phyrexian, DFC, free spells) are not the same, I just want to make sure people are talking about the actual issue at hand. 110

Phyrexian mana is not colorless/generic like Hybrid, there is colorless Phyrexian mana that is only on playtest cards. Hybrid mana is designed to be AND/OR, the debate is whether that should apply to color identity. 100

If you consider the intent, some decks are punching up into Bracket 4 with tutors, efficient combos, and the ability to consistently present wins on T3-5. Even some of the non-combo decks can give precons a run for their money. I've won multiple EDH pods with PDH Old Man Willow. 010
