![Reimagining the Safety Net for a Changing World of Work Applications are now open for the Work//Shift Fellowship, a new 12-month fellowship from the Center for Cultural Innovation's Research to Impact Lab. Our systems of support were built around stable, traditional employment, a model that has never worked for everyone and is working for fewer people as the nature of work continues to change. Work//Shift brings together 8 organizers, builders, intellectuals, and policy thinkers working across industries shaped by precarious and gig work to ask: What could a social safety net designed for everyone actually look like? Through a hybrid learning experience, fellows will challenge dominant assumptions about work and safety nets, learn across sectors and lived experiences, build durable relationships and networks, and ideate new projects, policy ideas, and systems-level solutions. Fellows will receive: • A $30,000 stipend for participation • A 12-month, part-time hybrid fellowship • Virtual programming and two in-person convenings • Opportunities to build relationships with a cross-sector network of people reimagining what comes next We're looking for people with deep knowledge, lived experience, bold ideas, and a desire to build alongside others. You do not need to enter the fellowship with a fully formed project. Work//Shift is designed to create the conditions for new ideas, collaborations, and initiatives to emerge.
