Bracken, a tiger-owl-griffin, is curled on a bed of foliage with a person resting against her feathered chest, tucked beneath one of her large wings. Bracken's heart-shaped owl face is tilted downward, eyes closed, her plumage a mottled mix of tawny, cream, and tiger-striped browns. The messy haired human is sleeping peacefully against her wrapped in a patchwork blanket, sheltered by her wing. They're in a dense, painterly glade of purple and blue wildflowers, tall grasses, and layered foliage in dusky violets, olive greens, and warm golds, with a hazy mountain and pale sky in the background.

Sköll is the wolf who chases the sun — during the eclipse, his teeth come close enough to graze it. Hati rests, holding his sliver of moonlight until night reclaims it. St Lawrence’s tears fall. Pretty cool to look up into the sky and to see the same thing as so many before me and wonder.

Painting titled “17/08/26, 94% Solar Eclipse, Waxing Crescent, Perseid Meteor Shower,” inscribed below with “St Lawrence, Sköll, Hati.” In the upper left, the swirling teal and gold sky resolves into the hidden face of St Lawrence, streams of white and pale light pouring from his eyes like tears — the Perseid meteors falling as his martyrdom weeping. Below him, camouflaged into the rolling hills so his massive scale only slowly becomes apparent, Hati sleeps curled in on himself, jaws closed gently around a glowing crescent of moonlight, waiting for night to reclaim it. Dominating the right side of the composition, his brother Sköll lunges awake and huge through the sky, jaws open wide around solar eclipse, his fur dissolving into the corona, radiating streaks of gold, cream, peach, and orange light that spread across most of the frame. The sky melts from swirling teal and blue into fluffy clouds, cut through by a horizon of dark pine trees, cut through by the winding river from which Sköll emerges.

Transmasc-Carmelite-nun-X-Jesuit-priest-old-man-yaoi, anyone? #queerart #transart #oldmanyaoi #art

Two older men embracing against a red background, a green four-pointed starburst motif behind them. On the left, Father Miguel Vidal — a broad, solid man, dark-skinned, warm, dark hair gone grey at the temples and slightly too long for propriety. A full beard, silver-threaded. The black clerical shirt open at the collar, the white clerical collar visible beneath, the neckline loose enough to show chest hair and his crucifix, and ridden up enough to show the tattoo at his hip — a geometric ichthys, faded with age. His eyes are closed. His expression is entirely unguarded, smiling. One large road-worn hand holds onto his lover’s crucifix. On the right, Adán — and pale, in a brown Carmelite habit and white wimple, spectacles askew, ginger curls escaping at the edges of the coif. His hairpins have come loose, the wimple softly undone by proximity and time. He is smiling also, a serene look to him.

Cold War Experiment Walter and Delinquent Henry #ocs #artsky #werewolf #sketch

Character design sheet for Rosehip, part of the Morbid Fruits series. Left side features two studies of a transformed, monstrous Walter, plaintive in one, teeth bared in one. The bottom left has an illustration of human Walter, long hair and thick sideburns & moustache, collar open, expression somewhere between dazed and watchful. Right side shows the two characters in socks and their facility-issue jumpsuits: Henry, small and arms-crossed with the codename Hazard scrawled on his oversized outfit, Walter towering beside him with WARD embroidered properly on his, hands behind his back. There is an illustration of and the word ROSEHIP above them. Black and white, line-art with minimal shading.

Your work is so special, in all its horrors and its richness and its beauty, and it means so very much to me. Some people cannot sit with what's complicated and revert to a puritanism that they've never fully deconstructed. Please, take care, and we'll all be here to see what you make next <3

I’m going to print them out and stick them on cardboard and then hang them in the center of my living room and attack it like it’s zoo enrichment. #queerart #digitalart #characterart #morbidfruits

If you're into yearning, Catholic guilt and day old pomegranates, perhaps you'd enjoy my writing. It's Priest!Henry/Walter, and I'm not much of a writer, but it seems worth sharing #ao3 #originalwork #queer The Book in the Glove Box by RuddyKite - Original Work archiveofourown.org/works/64881181

Here’s the original. I guess the moral of this story is not to torture yourself, but also it’s okay to shelf projects and come back to them later with fresh eyes.

I nearly lost my marbles trying to make this piece work (original draft below). I hated it at every step and drove myself crazy just trying relentlessly to make it work. In the end, I let it be, and only came back to it now, a few months later. #art #digitalart #characterart #oc #owncharacter

I’ve had Bracken as a character for so long that she feels like a home to me. In my mind, I know her every feather and mannerism. I’ve been struggling considerably lately, and I find myself coming back to her in moments like these.
