Snagged a clean '97 reprint. Some folks suspect this was the last album cut from the real masters before they were lost in the '08 Universal fire. The recent Acoustic Sounds cut is excellent but this feels a little closer to the source.

Re-shuffled the front room rig to accommodate a new acquisition, a pair of Tekton Uruz speakers. Two-way design, full-range driver crossed at 5 kHz with a ribbon tweeter. Not quite the dispersion of the Infinity RS2.5's, but they don't take 500 W per side to sound their best! #hifi #vinyl

I also cut a new armboard for the Thorens and installed an AudioQuest PT-9 tone arm with a Fidelity Research FR-1 mk 3 cart, which runs into some custom 1:30 step-up transformers I designed and built myself. Not too shabby! #hifi #thorens #tube #movingcoil

I also had enough Richlite, plywood, and lead shot left over to make some record stabilizer pucks, one of which got matching stain. Weighs about 3/4 pound, and I'm not convinced they do much, but doodads and baubles are always more satisfying if you gnaw them out with your own teeth. #hifi #vinyl

One last addition for the Thorens TD 124 project: I had enough Richlite scrap left over to cut a matching armboard, which definitely helped noise and bass response. I may cross-bore some pockets in the board to accept lead shot, but for now, I'm really happy with this! #vinyl #hifi

Finally finished this mass-loaded plinth for my Thorens TD-124 Mk II turntable. Richlite and birch plywood, with some lead shot and sand loading, as well as constrained layer damping with a compliant adhesive in select locations. Lots of fiddly work but I'm pretty pleased with how this came out!

Having the original version of this matters more than I thought! The only reprint out there, which is admittedly very good, pitches the entire A side up a half step. Look at the play times! “Home Rule” is in the key of E on the original pressing but F in the reprint!

Two records in protective sleeves; the reissue track times are about 5% lower than the original.
