six panel comic, all in oranges and pinks and purples, with captions below each panel
fun fact: i wrote the captions first and then figured out what to draw

panel 1: an otter with yellow glasses and a pink backpack opens the trunk of a hatchback car. he is not colored in yet. in the background, a hiking trail spirals up a hill lit by the setting sun.
“how will i know when I have done enough to prepare myself?”

panel 2: a collection of hats in the trunk of the car, each with a logo. a pawn, a musical note, a gamepad, a video play button, an x, and a pencil. the otter selects the pencil hat.
“i have so many ideas, so many plans, and yet so few of them have come to fruition.”

panel 3: the otter climbs the path and begins to become more colored in. ahead on the path, another otter (the same otter) has climbed further. the trees are in shadow.
“what does ‘future me’ want, anyway?”

panel 4: the otter further ahead is in the foreground looking back. the other otter (the same otter) struggles to keep up. the trees are in bright sun.
“could ‘present me’ be okay with the way ‘past me’ had paved the road i now walk?”

panel 5:
a side view of a singular otter who is panting and huffing while climbing the path. the trees are equally in light and shadow.
“when will i be enough?”

panel 6:
the otter’s head is in frame looking out over a vista of shadow and light at sunset. pale purple mountains in the distance hug a small town and its roads. the sunset is blindingly bright.
“and will i be present enough for myself to realize when it’s happened?”
