Bluesky Account Suspended for Supporting Palestinian Armed Resistance www.richardsilverstein.com/2026/09/26/m...

The rule prohibiting promoting, glorying or inciting violence would also prevent a user from supporting the right of Ukrainians to armed resistance against the Russian invaders. It would prohibit praising the Jewish partisans who rebelled against the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It would have prohibited affirming the right of the US to armed resistance against Japanese attackers after Pearl Harbor.

There are legitimate criticisms about the amount of collaboration with the police, but I am so proud of Durham for taking strong first steps toward supporting our neighbors with care instead of force. As this article points out, the next step is care *infrastructure*. www.npr.org/2026/09/22/n...

How unarmed 911 teams are reshaping public safety in nearly 100 cities

Rob Crisp walks in a parking lot as he responds to a call for a wellness check at the lot. He's carrying a duffel bag. Behind him is an SUV with its rear door raised up; the side of the vehicle has the words "HEART," "Community Safety" and "City of Durham." A woman is reaching into the vehicle's trunk.

Rob Crisp, a peer support specialist with the Holistic Empathetic Assistance Response Team (HEART) program, responds to a call for a wellness check at a parking lot in Durham, N.C., on Sept. 14.

We both agree about this

A photo with the word OUTSIDE in blocky white lowercase
In the front there is an orange cat looking into the distance with a calm alertness
Behind/under him is a grinning white person in a black t shirt with short graying hair sticking up in a lumpy way

Lighting indicates they are outdoors, maybe on a porch 😉

This! The danger is that AI amplifies our existential fascism problem.

@Wolven

…Y'all i am so fucking tired.

CAPITALISM poses risk of extinction.

WHITE SUPREMACY poses risk of extinction (genocide, eugenics).

HEGEMONY poses risk of extinction.

And whatever "risk of extinction" "AI" poses, it poses because it is BUILT FROM THOSE EXTREMELY HUMAN VALUES.

If you haven't lately (or ever) this would be a great time to re/watch 9 to 5. It's a fantastic film in nearly every way. I would say it's revolutionary, and we sure didn't see that on the screen much in the 80s! I'm seriously so grateful this film was a part of my childhood.

On the right: a movie poster for the film "9 to 5". There are three cheerful-looking white office ladies (L-R Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton) circa 1980. In front of them is a white man in business attire (Dabney Coleman) tied to his chair grumpily.

On the left: a close-up of Dolly Parton's character looking cute as heck and looking up at someone skeptically but sweetly.

Palestine Action activists face being sentenced as terrorists over bank damage www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

The Labour MP and former shadow chancellor John McDonnell said: “Trying direct-action protesters under criminal law but then sentencing them under terrorist legislation cannot be seen in any way as fair or just. It is a practice that seems to be specifically targeted to silence the voices of people speaking out against the genocide in Gaza.”

Similar offending by climate activists has not been deemed to have a terrorist connection. For example, seven Extinction Rebellion protesters were given suspended sentences for causing more than £100,000 of damage by breaking windows at Barclays’ London headquarters in 2023.
