Who are the intended targets of the militarization of Washington, D.C.? Post stolen-election dumocrats?

Oh boy. The kind of meaningless event that only appeals to sports writers. Let's win the ball game.

My takeaway is he needs to work on executing bunts. You and Dave O'B are in complete agreement that the modern game has little room for old fashioned baseball plays. I think the team is convinced that "playing the right way" has borne unexpected (by some) fruit. Durbin's slam survived Contreras bunt

If Wong was catching, do you think he fields the bunt? He's cat quick on those.

Agree, not going for the ball at all, just leaving it to hover nearby.

"Sit down, boy" from the pitcher started the whole thing. Racist garbage.

Pure propaganda. We'll still be struggling to decarbonify 30-50 years from now, in part thanks to those who were fear mongers about nuclear year ago. At least away from the equator we're a long ways from being able to battery our way through the winter.

To really melt the ice between us, simply invade and annex Greenland then let the Russians have bases there. That's the only advantage of US control over Greenland, right?

About the first, Tracy needed to challenge the safe call at third, which would have limited the damage. Would it have helped if Durbin jumped up and down a bit, rather than just put up his index finger to request a review? How could they hesitate too long?

Seeing all the cool kids ganging up on the misfit Pielke Jr is such a bad look for you. His concerns are much more nuanced IMO than you give him credit for. He acknowledges climate change is a huge problem--you should acknowledge that. The AEI he is not.

Has there been any progress on the campaign to rename the Nobel Peace Prize the Nobel War Prize?

Durbin was a very promising rookie who, left in place, would have been expected to hit league average this year, right? Going to a team with this rabid fan base (which can be intimidating for some) and with a real lack of experienced veterans? That's a different situation and falloff not unlikely.

We certainly don't have to accept his apology nor do we need to raise our estimation of him. But we can acknowledge that his apology will mean a lot to some Trump supporters and is a hugely important milestone that we can be happy to see. What he gets out of it is of lesser importance.

Not that they're stupid, but that they don't know what it was like 20, 30, or 40 years ago. Do they really think everyone was so secure financially, then?

If use of force were necessary and appropriate, we wouldn't discuss the cost, we'd just do it. World War II imposed hardships on American civilians as well as our soldiers. And we increased the National debt through war bonds. I ask you to please focus on the senselessness and cruelty.

True, but solar and wind are obviously worse. Engineering an always-available electricity supply using all of solar+wind+nuclear+storage seems more possible than using renewables without nuclear for just that reason.

Has there ever been any attempt to explain why the US military isn't intercepting these boats, examining their cargoes, and holding their crews for trial if contraband is found? Wouldn't most Americans prefer this treatment of potential criminals over summary execution? Aren't we capable of this?

Dumping Tim Echols may not help. He appeared, from my vantage point in the Northeast, to be pro-solar and pro-nuclear and against continuing the fossil fuel past. I don't know how his Republican Party affiliation affected his work, but he seemed to be doing good.

I would support legislation to Anglicize all place names of Spanish origin with the United States. The Angels, St. Francis, etc. The only hard one is New Mexico.

The first accident seems excusable, just my opinion. After that happened, Boeing acted as if there was nothing to be learned from it. To me, with this prior experience, the second was preventable and a criminal coverup was responsible.

a bit tainted by the position player pitching, no? Reminds me of Brock Holt's completion of the cycle by homering against a position player.

Red Sox don't know when to play for a single run and how to play for a run. Can't get everyone on the same page: big swing strikeouts with runners on third and less than two outs seem pretty routine, sometimes following a sac bunt. Are they resigned to letting everyone play to pad their stats?

Agree. Past expectations that ex-Presidents will fade into the background must be discarded in the face of a constitutional crisis. Best if W and Obama work together, because the mainstream media would be happy to focus on this for its unprecedented nature and daily readership response.

I love it too! The Americans come across badly, however. And it's a stretch to imagine the American President hitting on the Prime Minister's assistant. Right?
