Up this road lives a man whose name I know not nor words ever been exchanged with. I drive it coming from the west for a simple act: a wave. Whether it’s just he and I or my friend, he, and I, we exchange a genuine wave. For that brief moment, the world seems alright. 📱 24mm, 1/280 @ f/1.78, ISO 80
Shot from a straight road, with storm clouds above, vegetation on the left and right, with a couple of trees in the middle ground. Telephone posts with wires being supported are seen on the image’s left.

Eons ago, a photography teacher hammered to my core not having muddy images. Whether on the enlarger or on the computer; it's something I'm highly critical of in my stuff. But sometimes, my eyes fool me. So, I'm putting this up because I love the pigeon in it. :D 📷 50mm, 1/1250 @ f/11, ISO 640
North facing view of the south side of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., in monochrome, with twelve columns, originally painted in gold, and six weeping willow trees on that side. A pigeon is standing near the foreground of the photo, and six wispy clouds are on the upper left-hand side of the image, on the far right is a residential building in the distance.

To me, sometimes the most mundane things are stunning. Whether it’s how it’s built, painted, presented,…if it snaps, it snaps. #CityPhotography 📷 50mm, 1/125 @ f/8, ISO 100
Photo of a building’s corner in the middle ground, fluffy clouds in the background, and light post in the foreground. The whole image, except for the clouds and shutters on the building, along with the window accessories, are blue.

If you listen closely when out and about, you learn a thing or two from the trees -- here's your proof that they always have something to say if you just take a moment with them and listen. 📷 28mm, 1/160 @ f/6.3, ISO 640
Monochromatic shot of an old big maple tree in a field, with other younger trees in the background, and in the foreground, wooden benches sit, evenly spaced in four rows of threes.

You know, there's something beautiful about the urban setting...you get to appreciate the beauty in manmade structures -- things we usually just gloss over. You just know someone put thought into why things look a certain way. #BlackAndWhite #UrbanPhotography 📷 55mm, 1/200 @ f/8, ISO 100
Monochromatic photo of a plane flying low as it is approaching an airport not visible on the screen; airplane is flying over a bridge, where you can see signage above the road (HOV 3+ only), two streetlights, one on each side of the bridge, and the guardrail. The clouds were caught in the photo and they are dramatic.

I so can't wait for the colder weather to arrive! Being a fan of autumn and winter, it's when the beauty of nature really shines for me, and it's when I stop constantly complaining about the heat and humidity. 🤣 This is the Potomac, at Little Sister Falls in Maryland. 📷 18mm, 1/25 @ f/8, ISO 100
Raging white rapids flowing through narrow paths leading into a bigger basin before continuing, in the dead of winter with snow covering trees and boulders along the rapids.

I fell in love with upstate New York a few years ago while attending a friend's memorial. Taughannock Falls is what suckered me into visiting that area again, meandering through the roads until getting up to Sodus Point. The scenery is just gorgeous up there! 📷 28mm, 1/640 @ f/8, ISO 640
Taughannock Falls, as seen from one of the stone observatory decks at Taughannock Falls State Park. There are clouds in the background, the canopies of trees in the foreground, and the middle ground has the falls, with somewhat of a vanishing point towards the center of the image, with water streaming down from it. The photo is a monochrome one.

Ha! It’s a sin to tell you how old this is, but it should still be good, right? It’s been kept in a perfect environment. I also discovered some film processing chemicals evaporate after they have aged and cracked their containers. 🤣

One thing that my adventurous self gives me is the ability to go off the beaten path. That's how I came across this gem of a spot -- over the bridge, through the forest, etc. These little spaces...they're just so awesome! 📷 33mm, 1/125 @ f/4.5, ISO 100
Black and white photo of high-rises in Rosslyn, Virginia, with the GW Bridge framing the upper left side of the photo, in the foreground and middle ground is a portion of the Potomac River that gets cut into by Roosevelt Island.

I get my love of the natural world from my parents, but my love for birds comes from my mother. The day I took this, we had gone to the spot where I was taken as a little kid in pre-K (it wasn’t pre-K back then) and just sat in the garden talking to that little bird. 📱9mm, 1/1000 @ f/2.8, ISO 32

So…I have this thing about not posting shots from my phone onto anything that showcases DSLR shots. Not because I look down on the tool, but because it feels…I don’t know…not complex enough? Nevertheless, I have to share this here. 📱 14mm, 1/4000 at f/2.2, ISO 50
View from one of the overlooks on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. From the middle of the shot, to the bottom, you see rolling hills and mountains, covered in trees, which are finishing dropping their leaves. The sky is the upper half of the photo, with dramatic clouds in a blue sky.

Woot, woot! I love that I can continue to appreciate, encourage, and showcase photography from here. Decided to split it from my general main account as I know people are all comfortable with all art subject matters. Here’s to continual growth of this amazing platform.

I've always loved #BlackAndWhite photos, but eons ago, I became averse to muddy shots -- I don't like my photos muddy. Playing w/ film, I could expose an image onto paper to clean that up -- straightforward; with #Lightroom, I'm never happy, because I have to feel it. I'm just too picky. 🤣
Monochromatic photo of water rushing out of outlets at the bottom of a dam. There are three windows in the upper part of the image; on the image's right, there is a concrete divider and on the image's right, there are metal railings and staircases. There are shadows from those metal components being cast on the area above the water outlets.

Yes...you can bet money on yourself that I've been out there in the real world, enjoying it all. Gotta love #azalea season! 🎞️24mm, 1/800 at f/5.6, ISO 400
POV shot from the bottom up of an azalea bush, with pink blossoms. In the background, you see trees that tower over it, some with leaves, others with leaves barely coming out. The sky is visible, with the sun shinning powerfully in the top 1/3 of the photo.

You know how they say that the eyes are windows to the soul? What if I told you that windows, are just elements that contain greatness -- you just have to get closer, peer at what's on the other side. It may just surprise you. #BWphotography
Monochromatic photo of a hay barn, with hay on the floor, on the sides, and on the immediate right, on a vehicle -- with the rear tire just barely visible in the frame. In the background, halfway up the photo, and about 1/3 of the way to from the left, there is a window with a faint scene on the other side.

You know, whenever I come across old vehicles like this, I always hope it finds itself in the same exact spot, with its scratches, worn areas, dents -- not as a yearning for something past, but as a testament that it's held on and continues to do so. 🎞️50mm, 1/50 sec at f/3.5, ISO 200
Monochromatic front shot photo of a old Ford pickup truck, with a visible aftermarket dump contained attached to it. The hood of the pickup is popped open, and there are scratches, dents, and rust all over it.

You've got to love it when you see art inside art in a place with art. This is from my early stash of photos and taken with a (You ready for a trip down nostalgia lane?): Canon Rebel XT. 🎞️ 31mm, 1/13 sec at 4/f.5, ISO 100
Monochrome image of a staircase at the National Gallery of Art, the image is taken from an angle, at the bottom is a bench with a cushion, railings is seen going up the wall of the staircase, and on what is the second flight of the stairs, a man is coming down the stairs -- you see his upper torso and head.

Who doesn't love a good flowering shot, right?! So, without further explanation, enjoy. This is from the Magnolia Grove here in the city. If you go check it out, do so when I'm not around so you don't mess up my shots. :D 🎞️ 50mm, 1/5000 sec at f/4, ISO 800

A few years ago, I went on a photo adventure with a friend and her family. We were doing early Urbanex -- and stumbled upon a cool rail storage. This is from inside an abandoned railcar -- the breaks didn't catch my eye, but the holes into the real world did. 🎞️50mm, 1/0000 sec, f/4.5, ISO 100
Photo taken of a broken and cracked dirty square railcar window, with rounded edges. In the background, behind the glass, in the distance, you can see the cranes used for hauling cargo off of ships.

I find winter to the best time for photography outdoors, with trees dropping their leaves and leaving views so bare. Makes you appreciate the mundane things out there that you'd probably ignore with color all around you. 🎞️50mm, 1/250 sec at f/2.8. ISO 800
Photograph in black and white of Rock Creek Parkway in Washington, D.C., two lanes in one direction, two lanes in the opposite direction. Cars are mostly seen on the right set of lanes. There are joggers on the far left of the image, running on a path. A creek is visible snaking down the left side of the image too, and to the far left side, the forest is seen in the winter season. In the distance, Duke Ellington Bridge is visible, with more forest and sky visible.

I love photos which hits the viewer -- whether by the subject, the light, or the idea that they can hopefully discover behind the photo. And that pretty much was what I was doing here with this shot.
Photo from the bottom of a fountain, with the fountain on the left hand side of the photo. The POV is of a spout from the fountain where a pigeon has sat on the outflow, that is off, with a bright sun on the right side of the photo.
